Butzel Long receives award from the Oakland Region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan
Butzel Long was honored recently by the Oakland Region of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan (WLAM) for having the ""Most Progressive Work-Life Balance Policies"" for women attorneys.

WLAM distributed a survey earlier this year and forwarded it to Michigan law firms with offices located in Oakland County. The survey is completed on a biannual basis. This year, the survey asked for information regarding area law firm policies on promotion and advancement, disability and leave programs and more.

WLAM was established in 1919 and has more than 700 members including attorneys, judges and law students. Hailey Joins DLA Piper's Real Estate Practice in Austin
DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary US LLP has announced that Jay Hailey has joined the firm’s Real Estate practice group as a partner. He joins DLA Piper from Locke Liddell & Sapp LLP where he was a partner.

Hailey practices in all areas of commercial real estate law, including zoning and other land use matters. He has represented clients in complex transactions, including the ground lease and redevelopment of city-owned land for a major downtown mixed use project, the residential condominium component of a major regional mixed use retail center, the development of mixed use projects involving ground lease and tenancy in common transactions on state-owned land, several high-rise residential condominium projects, the construction and financing of several West Texas wind power projects, and zoning, development approvals and other entitlements for various office, industrial, retail and residential projects.

“Jay is an accomplished and nationally recognized real estate and entitlement attorney who brings a distinctive skill set to our world-class real estate practice,” said Jay Epstien, chair of the firm’s U.S. Real Estate practice. “His experience and strong relationships with national clients doing business in Texas make him the ideal candidate to work with Phil Weller in our Dallas office to guide the growth of our real estate practice in Texas.”

Hailey is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, and a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for real estate and banking and has been named as a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer for real estate.

Hailey received a B.A. from Southern Methodist University, and a J.D. from the University of Texas.

Miller Canfield Attorney Re-Elected to ABA House of Delegates
The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. announces that Pamela C. Enslen, senior counsel in the Kalamazoo office, has been re-elected to a three-year term on the American Bar Association’s (ABA) House of Delegates. This is her third election to the governing body of the ABA. Additionally, she will serve a one-year term on the ABA’s 11-member standing committee on Judicial Independence.

Enslen is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group at Miller Canfield. Her experience with dispute resolution is extensive, serving or having served on numerous committees of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, and Kalamazoo County Bar Association, as well as serving as a member of the Panel of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association and as a distinguished neutral for New York’s Center of Public Resources.

She received her law degree, cum laude, from Wayne State University, and a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music, both with highest distinction, from the University of Michigan.

She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a Master of the American Inns of Court, Grand Rapids Chapter, and a member of American MENSA. Other activities include the American Cancer Society, Kalamazoo Chamber of Commerce, and co-founding the Community Dispute Resolution Center of Kalamazoo and Barry Counties.

She resides in Kalamazoo.

Dykema Attorney Named To 40 Under Forty List By Law Bulletin
Gregory L. Lacey, Member of Dykema’s Litigation Practice Group in the Chicago office, was recently named one of the ""2006 40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch"" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company. Profiles of all the recipients were included in a supplement to Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer.

Mr. Lacey’s practice areas include employment, commercial and medical litigation and consumer financial services. He is also a member of the firm’s Recruiting and Diversity Committees.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Lacey was an Assistant District Attorney with the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. While an Assistant District Attorney, he also taught business law as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York. Upon moving to Chicago, he was engaged in civil litigation with law firms where he handled matters involving coverage litigation, labor disputes and constitutional violations. He was also an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the Law Department of the City of Chicago, in the Employment Litigation Division, where he litigated cases involving age, race, gender and disability discrimination.

Mr. Lacey received his B.A. from Washington University and his J.D. from the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Iowa Law Review.

Firm Expands Immigration Practice
Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Cherylle C. Corpuz has joined the Firm as Of Counsel in the immigration group. Ms. Corpuz will be based out of Blank Rome’s Philadelphia office.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, Ms. Corpuz was in private practice. During this time, Ms. Corpuz established a full-service immigration law practice with clients throughout the East Coast. Ms. Corpuz has extensive experience in multi-state representation of clients in all aspects of immigration law. In addition, Ms. Corpuz counsels hospitals, social services agencies and criminal defense attorneys in the area of immigration law. Before private practice, Ms. Corpuz served as Vice President of Nationalities Service Center, where she directed the non-profit legal services department and was responsible for the overall operations of a refugee resettlement organization. Nationalities Service Center is a United Way member agency which provides legal, social and educational services to immigrants.

A frequent speaker on immigration law topics, Ms. Corpuz served as a Clinical Instructor and continues to serve as a mentoring attorney with the Temple University School of Law Immigration Law Clinic. In addition, Ms. Corpuz is a member of the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, Ms. Corpuz received her law degree from the University of Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.

Former U.S. Army Engineer Joins IP Group

In addition, Mr. George’s practice includes U.S., international, and foreign national patent prosecution and counseling; patentability infringement, validity, and freedom to operate opinions; design around counseling; trademark and copyright prosecution, counseling and licensing; trademark registration availability and freedom to use opinions; and matters of unfair competition.

Before attending law school, Mr. George served as a planning, design, and construction management engineer for 14 years with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Mr. George received his law degree, with high honors, from Rutgers School of Law – Camden and received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering.
