Lance Kalik Named One of NJ Law Journal's "40 Under 40"
Riker Danzig is pleased to congratulate partner Lance J. Kalik on his inclusion in the New Jersey Law Journal ""40 Under 40,"" published on July 24, 2006.

The 40 Under 40 is a select group of 40 New Jersey lawyers under the age of 40 who are considered high achievers and future leaders. Attorneys are selected by the Law Journal based on their solid record of trial, appellate or transactional work, as well as efforts given to pro bono, charitable and other volunteer activities.

Mr. Kalik, of Bridgewater, practices in Riker Danzig’s litigation department, specializing in complex disputes, as well as construction defect, insurance, and legal malpractice defense. He also represents several local school districts. Mr. Kalik has argued numerous appeals, including several notable cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court. He earned his law degree at Rutgers University School of Law-Newark in 1994 and his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University in 1989. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and before the Third Circuit Court Appeals and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Mr. Kalik is currently a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court District XIII Ethics Committee, the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, and the Malpractice Subcommittee of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Lori E. Halber Receives Two Appointments
Lori Halber , an associate in the Labor Relations and Employment Law department of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel LLP was recently appointed as an adjunct professor at Temple University's Beasley School of Law. Halber's post will begin this fall.

Halber has also recently been appointed Employer Co-Chair of the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section's Immigration Law Standing Committee. Her three-year appointment begins in August 2006.

Halber is a frequent speaker on employment issues such as hiring and firing without discrimination, wage and hour, attendance and leave issues under the ADA, FMLA and workers' compensation laws, harassment prevention and conducting effective investigations.

Halber represents management in a wide variety of labor and employment matters, including federal court, state court and administrative proceedings involving Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and common law claims involving restrictive covenants, breach of contract and wrongful discharge. In addition, Halber has experience in the immigration field representing clients seeking to employ foreign nationals in the U.S. on either a temporary or permanent basis.

Halber received her Juris Doctor from Temple University School of Law (1997), where she was awarded the Barrister Award for Trial Advocacy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree, with a concentration in Human Resources and Industrial Relations, from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania (1991).

Miller Johnson Attorney to Present at Annual MAR Conference in Grand Rapids
West Michigan real estate and construction attorney Jeff Ammon is a presenter at the Michigan Association of Realtor’s (MAR) Annual Convention and Expo at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, September 25-27. Miller Johnson’s managing member, Mr. Ammon will speak on the topic “Economic Development Incentives in Michigan.”

Throughout his 30-year career, Mr. Ammon has represented commercial and industrial owners, investors, developers and tenants in zoning and land use, acquisition, sale, leasing, financing and refinancing projects. A member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, the Building Owners and Managers Association, and the Construction and Financial Management Association Mr. Ammon writes and speaks on a variety of business, finance and real estate subjects.

The Michigan Association of Realtors is a professional trade organization for real estate professionals. It serves its members by advancing the interest of realtors and promotes and protects private property rights of Michigan citizens. Through advocacy, education, and communication, MAR works for the betterment of Michigan communities.

McLane Director Linda Johnson Chosen Board Member at Large by Southern New Hampshire Women's Business Network
The law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, Professional Association is proud to announce that Linda Johnson, chair of the firm’s employment and education practices, has been elected Member at Large by the Board of the Southern New Hampshire Women’s Business Network.

The Southern New Hampshire Women’s Business Network (SNHWBN) was created to initiate a network where business professionals in New Hampshire could network and expand their businesses.

Linda was chosen for her distinguished career as a labor and employment lawyer, as well as for her long-standing commitment to serving the community.

Linda was also recently appointed to the board of trustees of Rivier College. This is her second term on the Board, as she also served a term in 2000-2001.

Locke Reynolds Attorney Receives Award from the American Bar Association
Hugh E. Reynolds, Jr. recently received the Andrew C. Hecker Memorial Award from the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association (ABA). Mr. Reynolds received the award at the ABA’s Annual Meeting in Hawaii.

The Andrew Hecker Award is made on the basis of a TIPS member having consistently demonstrated, and continuing to demonstrate, the qualities of leadership, outreach, enthusiasm, professionalism and pride in TIPS and its accomplishments. Other characteristics of a potential award recipient would include dedication, persistence and the ability to motivate both groups and individuals to achieve goals in a volunteer organization.

Mr. Reynolds has been actively engaged in litigation primarily concentrating in the areas of fidelity and surety, construction law, products liability and commercial disputes. He is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a civil trial advocate. Mr. Reynolds is also a certified mediator in the State of Indiana, and he has appeared both as counsel for parties in mediation and as a mediator. He is on the arbitrator’s panel of the American Arbitration Association for construction disputes and complex commercial disputes.

Associate Colin Wexler Elected to Board of Directors of CLAIM
Colin Wexler was recently elected to the board of directors of Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers (CLAIM), a non-profit organization that provides legal aid, education about the law, and systems change advocacy for and with women prisoners and their dependent children.

CLAIM was the recipient of this year's Goldberg Kohn Award.
