Bracewell & Giuliani Partner to Discuss Employee Blogging and Surfing in the Workplace
Bracewell & Giuliani labor and employment partner Bob Nichols will speak at the August Membership Meeting of the Corpus Christi Human Resource Management Association on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at 11:30 a.m.

Nichols will discuss current trends of employee surfing and blogging in the workplace as well as the legal implications of corporate monitoring of employee online activity.

Employee online activity has risen substantially and recent studies indicate that 85 percent of workers in America with Internet access admit to spending an average of 2 hours per day on personal e-mails and Internet activity, while 80 percent of employers monitor that activity.

As a partner in the law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani practicing in both Houston and Corpus Christi, Nichols devotes his law practice exclusively to the representation of employers in labor and employment matters. Specifically, he represents employers in litigation and administrative actions concerning discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, occupational safety and health, union-management relations, wage and hour matters and other concerns related to employment.

Certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for 13 years, he has also been named a Texas Super Lawyer in labor and employment law by Law & Politics Media. Nichols frequently writes articles for publication on labor and employment issues and also is a frequent speaker on topics related to the employment relationship.

The Corpus Christi Human Resource Management Association is a nonprofit organization formed in 1972 with a membership exceeding 100 human resource professionals that form a cross-section from oil and gas to healthcare and banking.
