Hunton & Williams Promotes Holmes and Westermann to Counsel
Hunton & Williams LLP proudly announces the elevation of litigators Steven T. Holmes and Robert S. Westermann to Counsel, effective September 22. As members of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights practice group, each focuses on the full range of business reorganization matters.

Hunton & Williams’ 300-lawyer Litigation Department is one of the largest in the nation. The Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights practice group is co-headed by Benjamin C. Ackerly and Craig V. Rasile. The group regularly handles major representations in federal and state courts across the United States, including in the traditional bankruptcy forums of the Southern District of New York and the District of Delaware.

“Steven and Robbie have strong track records in building robust relationships with clients, with fellow lawyers, and in the community,” said Wally Martinez, managing partner of the firm. “They are tremendous assets to Hunton & Williams.”

Steven T. Holmes joined Hunton & Williams in Dallas in 2001 during its merger with the venerable firm Worsham Forsythe Wooldridge. An integral member of the firm’s litigation practice, Holmes’s practice includes representation of all constituencies in the bankruptcy arena as well as a steady diet of commercial litigation matters on a wide range of cases throughout Texas. He is a Master of the Dallas/Ft. Worth John C. Ford Bankruptcy Inn of Court and an active member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. A graduate of Indiana University, Holmes earned his law degree from SMU Dedman School of Law. Following law school, he was a law clerk for Judge Henley Hunter, of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Louisiana. Holmes is also active in the community, devoting many hours to his church and with disaster relief efforts in both Texas and his home state of Louisiana.

Robert S. “Robbie” Westermann joined Hunton & Williams in Richmond in 1998, following a clerkship with Judge Blackwell N. Shelley, of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. A well-rounded litigator, Westermann most recently served as lead debtor’s counsel in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of a national manufacturer of rubber, plastic foam and polymer products. Westermann is the current Editor of the Virginia State Bar’s Bankruptcy Journal and a member of the executive committee of the Richmond Bar’s Bankruptcy Section. Active in the community, Westermann also has participated in several presentations to high school students on the subject of credit abuse through the CARE program sponsored by the Richmond Bar and participates in mentoring programs with elementary school students. A graduate degree of the University of Virginia, Westermann received his law degree from Washington & Lee University.
