Illinois CPA Society and Center for Corporate Financial Leadership Best Practices in Professional Services Firm Management Gregory S. Gallopoulos
Jenner & Block Managing Partner Gregory S. Gallopoulos will participate in an Illinois CPA Society and Center for Corporate Financial Leadership webcast entitled, “Best Practices in Professional Services Firm Management,” to be held October 31 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM CST. The webcast will address key aspects of management in professional services firms, including law firms, accounting firms and consulting firms. Topics will include industry trends, the importance of strategy and focus, factors that impact a firm’s bottom line, and how management, planning and professional vales can drive profits.

Joining Mr. Gallopoulos is Dennis D. Bartolucci, CPA, Partner in the Chicago Office and U.S. Leader of the Internal Audit Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Jane M. Montas Joins Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C.
Jane M. Montas has joined Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C. as an associate in the Firm's Real Estate Practice Group.

In 2003, Montas earned her B.A., with distinction, in English and history from the University of Michigan, and her J. D. in 2006 from the University of Michigan Law School.

While attending law school, Montas worked as a legal intern for both the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and the Michigan Municipal League. She also worked in the New York office of McDermott Will & Emery, a Chicago based firm.

Sarah S. Bates has joined Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C. as an associate in the Firm's Corporate Practice Group.

Bates graduated with honors in 2003 from Michigan State University with a B.A. in social relations. She earned her J. D. magna cum laude in 2006 from Michigan State University College of Law with a concentration in the Trial Practice Certificate Program.

While attending law school, Bates worked as a law clerk for the Waterford-based Booth Patterson, P.C., preparing motions and conducting research for the Firm. She also served as a pre-hearing extern for the Michigan Curt of Appeals pre-hearing division.

Jonathan C. Myers has joined Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C. as an associate in the Firm's Litigation Practice Group.

In 2003, Myers earned his B. A. in English from the University of Michigan and, in 2006, his J. D. from Wayne State University, where he graduated with honors.

While attending law school, Myers held the position of both associate editor and senior articles editor of the Journal of Law in Society and served as a law clerk for Bloomfield Hills-based Dawda, Mann, Mulcahy & Sadler, PLC. He received the Judge Thomas C. Yeotis Scholarship and a Bronze Key Certificate for academic achievement.

Legal Times Readers Select Hogan & Hartson Partner as Leading Life Sciences Lawyer
Hogan & Hartson LLP partner Barbara Bennett has been selected by the readers of Legal Times as the leading life sciences lawyer in the Washington, D.C. area. Bennett was previously honored in the publication's April 2006 Leading Lawyers in Life Sciences Report, "Life Sciences: Counsel on the Cutting Edge," which named Bennett as one of eight leading life sciences lawyers in the Washington, D.C. area. Legal Times readers then chose among the finalists through online voting and on October 24, Bennett was named the overall winner in the life sciences category.

Hogan & Hartson Lawyer Honored by Sanctuary for Families for Outstanding Pro Bono Work
Cristina Perez-Labiosa was recently honored by the Sanctuary for Families' Center for Battered Women's Legal Services in New York for her outstanding pro bono work on behalf of indigent victims of domestic violence. Perez-Labiosa was honored at the 4th Annual Associates Committee Fall Benefit, held October 30 in New York City, to honor attorneys who have made a difference in the lives of domestic violence victims by providing pro bono advocacy and representation.

GrayRobinson Increases Rank in National List of Most-Active Bond Counsel Firms
Partner Frank Fleischer, after working on the $3.05 billion record-setting deal from Florida's Citizens Property Insurance Corp., has brought GrayRobinson, P.A. up to 8th in the national list of most-active bond counsel firms during the first three quarters of 2006. This time last year, the firm was ranked 58th among its underwriters counsel competitors.
