Franklin Named Counsel
Frost Brown Todd LLC announced today that David E. Franklin has been named Of Counsel in the Firm’s Cincinnati office. Previously a Senior Associate, Franklin’s appointment is effective November 1, 2006.

Mr. Franklin practices in the areas of patent application preparation and prosecution in the electrical and digital technologies, software licensing, and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Prior to coming to Frost Brown Todd in 2001, Mr. Franklin spent five years in private practice and two years as in-house IP counsel at McDonnell Douglas, representing company interests in negotiating intellectual property rights with the federal government under the Federal Acquisition Regulations and related law. In addition to his legal experience, he has ten years of experience as an engineer and an Air Force officer.

He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Law Association and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force Reserves, in the Air Force JAG Corps.

Mr. Franklin is admitted to practice in Ohio, Missouri (inactive), the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Congratulations in Order.
The Ohio Bar Association has identified the attorneys that successfully passed the Ohio Bar exam, administered this past July. Frost Brown Todd is proud to announce that all eight of its attorneys that took the exam have passed and are eligible to begin practice in the state immediately.

Amrine Named YWCA Rising Star
The YWCA of Greater Cincinnati has named Frost Brown Todd attorney Kimberly S. Amrine as a 2007 Rising Star. The Rising Star program, created by the members of the YWCA Academy of Career Women of Achievement, honors women that exemplify outstanding career success, dynamic leadership qualities and the unique ability to serve as role models.

Amrine, also the Firm’s Director of Diversity, is a Litigation Senior Associate in the Cincinnati office concentrating her practice on complex business litigation and advertising law. She represents clients in many forms of complex commercial disputes, including business disputes and class action matters. Ms. Amrine also counsels clients on various advertising law issues, including pre-publication review, contests and sweepstakes, formal and administrative advertising challenges and federal court litigation under the Lanham Act. As the Firm's first Director of Diversity, she coordinates and implements the Firm's diversity initiatives throughout each of its seven regional offices.

Freshfields advises private equity owners and management on €153 million leveraged buyout of eDreams
International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised the private equity owners and senior management team of eDreams, Inc., the leading on-line travel agency and fastest growing travel company in Southern Europe, on its sale to private equity firm TA Associates for €153 million. The firm advised the Company's senior management team as well as funds controlled by Apax Partners, Atlas Venture, 3i and Doll Capital Management, among other private equity and venture capital investors. Certain members of the Company's senior management have rolled over their investment. The transaction represents the largest ever e-commerce LBO in Southern Europe and yet another encouraging sign in the sector.

The Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer team was led by corporate partner Antoni Valverde (Barcelona), assisted by partner Matthew Herman (New York) and associates Paco Iso and Manuel Deo (Barcelona) and Yayoi Shionoiri (New York).

Ashurst and Goodwin Procter served as legal counsel to TA. Morgan Stanley provided financial advice to eDreams, and Garrigues also provided legal services to the Company. Fortis provided senior debt for the transaction, and Fortis Escrow acted as Escrow and Settlement Agent.

Ford & Harrison Expands Miami Office - Elizabeth M. Rodriguez Joins as Partner
Ford & Harrison LLP, a national labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Elizabeth M. Rodriguez has joined the firm as partner in the Miami office. Ms. Rodriguez, formerly a shareholder with Kubicki Draper in Miami, will continue representing clients in the areas of employment litigation and counseling.

“Elizabeth’s practice and extensive work experience will be of tremendous value to the firm and our clients,” said Bill Radford, Ford & Harrison’s Miami Office Managing Partner. “I am extremely pleased that she has decided to join our Miami team.”

Ms. Rodriguez’s practice includes advising and counseling clients in all aspects of the employment relationship, including reductions in the workforce, affirmative action issues, problem employees and compliance with employment laws. She routinely defends employers and supervisors in federal and state courts and before the EEOC and other administrative agencies. Her experience includes representing numerous state agencies in civil rights actions and defending not-for-profit agencies and directors and officers.

Ms. Rodriguez received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law in 1989 and her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami in 1985. She is a member of the Florida Bar and its Appellate Practice and Advocacy Section, the Dade County Bar Association, Florida Defense Lawyers Association, Florida Association of Women Lawyers and Cuban American Bar Association.

Harris Addresses Property Loss & Liability Research Bureau Seminar In Chicago
Senior partner Jay Barry Harris recently spoke at the Property Loss/Liability Research Bureau program entitled Critical Issues for Senior Insurance Executives and In-House Counsel. The seminar was held in Chicago on October 23, 2006. Mr. Harris was part of a panel discussing Bad Faith Trends in Third Party Litigation. His presentation was entitled "Expanding the Frontier: Bad Faith Conduct During Bad Faith Litigation"

Mr. Harris continues to lecture to many community and professional groups on such topics as employment, trucking, nursing home, bad faith, insurance coverage and lead paint litigation. He has also authored articles on a variety of employment and insurance issues and the trucking industry.

Jay Barry Harris Named National Director For DRI—The Voice Of The Defense Bar
At the recent Annual Meeting of DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar in San Francisco, Jay Barry Harris, senior partner at the Philadelphia based law firm Fineman Krekstein & Harris, was named a National Director of the 22,000-member organization. Harris, who has been actively involved in DRI programs and committees for many years, joins the Board of Directors of the nation’s largest organization of defense trial lawyers.

Harris concentrates his practice in civil litigation. He has over 25 years of experience litigating cases involving product liability, employment issues, toxic torts, the environment, the trucking industry, premises liability, wrongful death and survival actions, and commercial disputes. Harris also has extensive experience serving as a neutral arbitrator for alternative dispute resolution matters.

“Jay Barry Harris brings a solid track record to our board. With his wide ranging practice areas, along with his history of exemplary leadership within DRI, he is a valuable addition to our Board of Directors, and will provide us with valuable insight and direction for the organization,” said John Kouris, Executive Director of DRI.

Before joining the Board of Directors, Harris served as Committee Chair of DRI’s Trucking Law Committee which is dedicated to addressing and resolving concerns within the trucking industry. In addition to his casework, Harris lectures to community and professional groups and authors articles on such topics as employment, trucking, nursing home, bad faith, insurance coverage and lead paint litigation. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude, and Temple University School of Law.
