Heart Association’s Campaign Reaches New Heights
The Heroes for Heart Campaign,” a fundraising initiative for the American Heart Association, has exceed the $1M mark -- the first time that this benchmark has been reached three months prior to its February event.

"American Heart Association's major sponsors Fulbright & Jaworski, Shell Oil Company, Stanford Group and DHL have clearly demonstrated their commitment as good corporate citizens," commented Campaign chairman Tim Connolly, CEO of Corporate Strategies. "Their support of the Heroes for Heart Campaign underscores the urgency of increasing awareness of heart disease, and funding research to fight this #1 killer of men and women in the United States."

Shell Oil Company President and Mrs. John Hofmeister will be honored at the Heroes for Heart Ball, along with cardiologist and author Dr. K. Lance Gould, and his wife Lenja, and philanthropists Lester and Sue Smith.

Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the devastating results of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the nation's #1 and #3 killers, claim more than 930,000 American lives a year, more than the seven other leading causes of death combined.

After Managing A Firm, What’s Next?
When law firm managing partners leave the top spot, it isn’t always easy to pick up a full-grown practice. In this Legal Times special report Christopher Foley, Finnegan Henderson’s managing partner from 2001 until July of 2006, comments on his experience of rebuilding an active law practice. “When I started, I thought I could have a balance,” said Christopher Foley. “I realized after a few short months that something had to give.” Foley said he has been able to rebuild his practice quickly in large part because of the support he received from his partners, who helped him reposition himself. He now has a practice similar to the one he had before taking the managing partner job, he says, albeit with new clients. Some of that practice includes clients he’s brought in, but he’s also had work referred to him by his partners. But he acknowledges that rebuilding his practice would have been quite a challenge in a firm “where partners hoard clients and where profitability is uniquely tied to an ‘eat what you kill’ formula.

Cozen O'Connor Ranks 77th On The National Law Journal 250 Largest Law Firms
Cozen O'Connor ranked 77th on The National Law Journal's (NLJ) 2006 survey of the nation’s 250 largest law firms. Of the 14 Philadelphia-based law firms that made the list, Cozen O'Connor ranked 4th. The NLJ sent surveys to approximately 300 law firms and solicited survey submissions to determine the 250 largest. Eligibility was based on a firm's total number of attorneys, not including contract or temporary attorneys, and the firm had to have more lawyers based in the United States than in any other single country. Firms were ranked by the total number of full-time equivalent attorneys, rather than just full-time attorneys. This is the NLJ’s 29th annual survey of the nation’s 250 largest law firms, covering the period of Oct. 1, 2005, to Sept. 30, 2006.

"We are extremely proud to be named to the NLJ 250 along with some of the country's biggest law firms," said Stephen A. Cozen, founder and chairman of Cozen O'Connor. "We have grown extensively over the past 38 years, and look forward to continued growth in the future.
