Fenwick & West and Chairman Gordon Davidson Separately Honored by SCCBA for Commitment to Diversity
In the last several months, the Santa Clara County Bar Association (SCCBA) has honored both Fenwick & West and Chairman Gordon Davidson for their efforts and commitment to a diverse working environment.

On November 15, at the Santa Clara County Bar Association Annual Judges' Night dinner, Fenwick & West was honored with the award for "Excellence in Firm Diversity Efforts," which Mr. Davidson accepted from Bar Association President Chris Arriola on the firm's behalf. President Arriola cited a number of firm efforts, but in particular noted that the firm tied some component of partner compensation to mentoring and diversity efforts, a move he said was unprecedented. Fenwick & West was also recognized for their support of the Commission's Diversity Conference.

On October 23, 2006, a blue-ribbon panel of the SCCBA presented Gordon Davidson with an award for Fenwick & West's contribution to diversity in the law. Mr. Davidson is co-chairman of the SCCBA's subcommittee on hiring, retention and advancement.

Fenwick & West's efforts in diversity were cited in the San Jose Mercury News (article linked below) that covered the Diversity Conference.

This honor follows the SCCBA's special recognition in October of Mr. Davidson's contribution to the work of the SCCBA's Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity as the Co-Chair of the Commission's Subcommittee on Hiring, Retention and Promotion. In addition to his co-chair position with the SCCBA, Mr. Davidson was one of the initial signatories to the San Francisco Bar Association's "No Glass Ceiling" initiative, formed in 2001 to increase opportunities for women to serve in leadership positions within the legal profession in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Bryan Cave Strategies’ Head Named Co-Chairman of National ONE Campaign
Jack Oliver, chairman of Bryan Cave Strategies LLC, has been named co-chair of the ONE Campaign, a national grassroots effort to rally Americans to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty. A nationally known Republican strategist, Oliver joins Yahoo! Chief Operating Officer Dan Rosensweig as co-chair.

“Jack and Dan are two of the country’s best political and tactical minds,” Susan McCue, ONE’s president and CEO, said in a press release. “I look forward to joining forces with them in our grassroots campaign to bring the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty to the forefront of today’s political arena and 2008 Presidential cycle.”

Oliver has worked at the highest levels of national and Missouri politics as an adviser and strategist for Bush-Cheney ’04, Bush for President and for Sens. Ashcroft, Bond, Danforth and Talent. He most recently served as national finance vice chairman for Bush-Cheney ‘04 and Victory 2004, managing the campaign’s $500 million national finance plan.

Founded in 2005 and headed by Oliver, Bryan Cave Strategies offers clients a bipartisan team that provides government relations and strategic counsel for corporations, trade associations and non-pro?t organizations. It is a subsidiary of Bryan Cave LLP and has headquarters in Missouri and Washington, D.C.

ONE believes that allocating an additional 1 percent of the U.S. budget toward basic needs like health, education, clean water and food would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the world’s poorest countries. ONE also calls for debt cancellation, trade reform and anticorruption measures in a comprehensive package to help Africa and the poorest nations beat AIDS and extreme poverty. One percent of the U.S. budget is approximately $25 billion.

To date, ONE is a coalition of 2 million people and more than 70 non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. ONE was founded by 11 of America’s most well-known and respected aid groups: Bread for the World, CARE, DATA, International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, Oxfam America, Plan USA, Save the Children US, World Concern and World Vision.

“ONE is building a successful campaign by doing it differently: bringing together people of different political parties and faiths, business and politics, grassroots and Internet organizing to help America do even more to save lives in the world’s poorest countries,” Oliver said. “I’m proud to serve with Dan Rosensweig as co-chair of the ONE Board. I know he’ll bring the full power and creativity of the Internet to the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty.
