Fulbright’s Lawyers in Asia Highly Ranked by Chambers Global
Fulbright & Jaworski’s practice groups and individual lawyers in Asia have been recognized and highly rated for their China corporate/M&A and Asia Pacific projects and energy work by Chambers Global, a world recognized guide to the legal profession.

The Chambers Global guide for 2007 describes Fulbright’s Asia-based corporate lawyers as “very knowledgeable about business practices and governmental regulations in China.” Fulbright also is highly commended for its handling of joint ventures and the establishment of new entities in China. The firm’s China practice group is described as “high caliber” and as being a “highly responsive and thorough team” who offer “outstanding quality.”

Various global practice areas within Fulbright were cited for their exceptional work by Chambers. Among the practice areas that caught the attention of the Chambers researchers were the firm’s international arbitration, dispute resolution, energy and intellectual property practices. Eleven of the firm’s lawyers were individually recognized in Chambers Global.

Jeff Blount, who is co-head of the firm’s International practice and head of the firm’s Hong Kong and Beijing offices, was among the firm’s lawyers who received individual recognition by Chambers Global, both for his corporate/M&A work in China and for his energy and projects work throughout the Asia Pacific region. Blount is described as being “proactive and with an eye for detail” and “very helpful, knowledgeable, and dedicated to his clients.”

Fulbright is additionally recognized for its projects and energy work in Asia. The firm has played a leading role in the international energy industry since the firm’s founding more than 85 years ago.

“With a marked focus on energy projects, the group has developed significant expertise in renewable sources,” Chambers wrote. “Chinese multinationals are an increasingly important element of the firm’s client portfolio, and the recent opening of an office in Beijing is a testimony to the firm’s commitment to the country.”

Fulbright partner Gregg Harris is recognized along with Blount, who has been in Asia since 1994, for their projects and energy work. While Blount is cited for his extensive work in electricity and rail-related projects across East Asia, Harris is “noted for his skill in debt restructurings.” Harris is head of the firm’s structured and project finance group and leads much of the firm’s power work in South Asia.

Fulbright’s international practice group includes more than 130 lawyers, who provide a wide range of services on international transactional, commercial, financial, investment and dispute resolution matters. Fulbright has six international offices, including two in China, and ten offices in the United States.

A team of 30 full-time researchers at Chambers spent a year analyzing firms and conducting 6,500 interviews of lawyers and their clients in 170 countries to complete the 2007 guide.

“Our firm is honored to receive such a prestigious recognition of the experienced counsel we provide to our clients globally,” Blount said. “This honor is a direct reflection of the feedback our clients provided. We work as a team to serve our clients and provide top-quality legal counsel on a global basis. We are delighted with this recognition by Chambers Global.
