Attorney J. Philip Kirchner Participates in Camden County Bar Association’s Program “Legal Negotiation & Settlement: Part II”
J. Philip Kirchner, a shareholder at Flaster/Greenberg, will be a panelist at Camden County Bar Association's “BEST OF” series entitled “Legal Negotiation & Settlement: Part II” on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 4 to 6:15 p.m. at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees. The program will cover approaches to mediation techniques, methods to involve opposing sides in the mediation process, suggestions for drafting effective position papers and settlement agreements, and “must have” clauses in every settlement agreement to avoid further litigation. A resident of Haddonfield, Kirchner concentrates his practice on resolving business disputes, including complex litigation of all types of business issues in both the federal and state courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and in the federal courts of New York.

Flaster/Greenberg shareholder Abbe F. Fletman will moderate the American Bar Association's teleconference and live audio webcast entitled “Power Talk: How to Speak So People Will Listen” on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, 1 to 2 p.m. The program will help people communicate more effectively, whether speaking to a judge, jury, clients or staff. A Philadelphia lawyer, Fletman is head of the Litigation Section of the Intellectual Property Practice Group and a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice Group.

George Moore Elected President Of New England Bar Association
Attorney George R. Moore, a shareholder in the law firm of Devine Millimet, has been elected to a one-year term as president of the New England Bar Association.

For over twenty-five years his practice has focused upon complex commercial litigation cases with trial experience encompassing business and securities litigation, business governance disputes and professional liability matters. He has litigated intellectual property rights, including patent infringement, trademark and trade secret claims. In addition, Attorney Moore has handled business and property valuation issues, real estate and tax disputes, as well as disputes arising out of transfers of wealth such as wills, trusts, fiduciary accountings and guardianships.

He is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Attorney Moore sits on the Board of New Hampshire Legal Assistance and the New Hampshire Legal Advice and Referral Center. He holds an AV rating, the highest, from Martindale-Hubbell and, since 2003, has been recognized in Chambers USA as one of America’s leading commercial litigators.

Moore is a member of the American Bar Association’s Litigation and Law Office Management Sections and is a member of the New Hampshire Judicial Council.

Davis Polk Advises Avista Capital on Its Acquisition of the Star Tribune
Davis Polk & Wardwell is advising Avista Capital Partners on its acquisition of the Star Tribune, the largest newspaper in Minnesota, from The McClatchy Company for approximately $530 million. McClatchy will now be the third-largest newspaper company in the United States, with 31 daily newspapers and approximately 50 non-dailies. Avista Capital Partners is a leading private equity firm with offices in New York and Houston.

The purchase covers the newspaper as well as other publications and Web sites related to the newspaper, and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2007.

The Davis Polk corporate team includes partner Leonard Kreynin and associates Vladimir Shendelman, Caroline Tait, Johannes Wirtz and Angela Doolan (not yet admitted). Partner Jean M. McLoughlin and associate Michael Steinberg are providing employment advice. The environmental team includes partner Gail A. Flesher and associates Hayden Baker and Elisabeth Hanratty (not yet admitted). Partner Lawrence E. Wieman is providing credit advice. Partner Kathleen L. Ferrell is providing tax advice. Counsel James P. McIntyre and associate Regina Chang are providing real estate advice. The intellectual property team includes associate Frank J. Azzopardi and associate Stefan Quick (not yet admitted). All members of the Davis Polk team work in the New York office.

Eckert Seamans Attorney Named to Saint Vincent College Board of Directors
The national law firm of Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC today announced that attorney Timothy P. Ryan has been named to the Board of Directors of Saint Vincent College.

Timothy P. Ryan is the Chief Executive Officer of Eckert Seamans and a Member of the firm’s Litigation Division. He has a broad range of experience in commercial, business and regulatory litigation, covering matters such as patent, trademark, copyright infringement, licensing, franchising, unfair competition, contracts, RICO, securities fraud and toxic exposure issues. He has represented litigants in various state and federal courts across the country and before state and federal administrative agencies. Mr. Ryan is one of the attorneys who represented petitioners in the landmark Markman case at trial and before the Federal Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. The case involved the constitutional right to jury trial of disputes involving the construction of patent claim terms. Mr. Ryan has been recognized as one of Pennsylvania’s Super Lawyers for 2004 & 2005 as selected by Law & Politics and published in Philadelphia Magazine. Mr. Ryan is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property litigation issues. He is the immediate past Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He also is a member of the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Mr. Ryan is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of Saint Vincent College, Mr. Ryan also serves on the boards of numerous other organizations, including the Metropolitan YMCA of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. He graduated, cum laude, from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a member of the Duquesne Law Review, and graduated with highest honors from Saint Vincent College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Mr. Ryan is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Third and District of Columbia Circuits, and the U.S. Claims Court. He resides in Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania.

Robinson & Cole Health Care Lawyer Selected to Serve on Connecticut Health Information Security and Privacy Initiative
Robinson & Cole Health Care lawyer David M. Mack was selected to serve on the Connecticut Health Information Security and Privacy Initiative (CT-HISPI). The CT -HISPI was formed to support the goals set out by President George W. Bush in the 2004 executive order which called for the commitment to use health care information technology to reduce medical errors, lower costs, and provide better information for consumers and physicians. CT-HISPI is a collaborative among the Public Health Foundation of Connecticut, the Connecticut Center for Primary Care, and eHealth Connecticut.

Mr. Mack provides legal counsel to health care providers and facilities on a full range of transactional and regulatory health law issues. Mr. Mack lectures and has written articles on medical-legal issues and ethics and sits on area hospital ethics committees.
