Ten Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Attorneys Honored by Harrisburg Magazine as 'Top Lawyers in Central PA
Ten Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney attorneys from the firm's Harrisburg office were named as 2007 "Top Lawyers in Central PA" in the December 2006 edition of Harrisburg Magazine. The list is an excerpt from the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, published by Woodward/White, Inc., an independent company.

Baker & McKenzie Ranked Among the Best in Chambers Global 2007 “The World’s Leading Lawyers”
Baker & McKenzie is pleased to announce that it continues its strong standings in Chambers Global 2007 annual directory, “The World’s Leading Lawyers”, with a total of 212 lawyers listed, up twenty from the 2006 list; and 46 of the Firm’s lawyers in various practice groups received a “1” ranking, up eight from last year.

In addition, the Firm’s International Private Client practice received a “1” ranking globally, quoted as being “at the forefront of trust reforms” with lawyers possessing “a good way of solving problems.”

Baker & McKenzie tax practitioner Luis Briones Fernandez from Madrid and intellectual property Partner Eugene Arievich from Moscow received exceptional recommendations in their field.

Other highlights from the 2007 rankings include:
• Ten offices received a “1” ranking for its Corporate practice; and eight offices received a “1” ranking for its Banking & Finance practice;
• In Asia, the Bangkok office was praised for a combination of “real local expertise and international resources,” and the Hong Kong office was recognized as the "strongest PRC player" and having “excellent global coverage and expertise”;
• In Europe, the London office ranked in the top four tiers in fifteen practice groups, and the Frankfurt and Madrid offices ranked in the top four tiers in ten practice groups;
• In Latin America, the Sao Paulo office was noted for its “excellent legal advice in a proper and timely manner,” and the Caracas office was recognized for its “muscle and deep talent across the board”;
• In North America, the Washington D.C. office received a “1” ranking for its Tax practice for the second consecutive year.

Over 6,500 interviews with in-house and outside counsel were conducted covering 170 countries over a period of a year for this directory. Lawyers were ranked on a scale of 1-6 based on technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by clients. Chambers Global is produced by London-based Chambers and Partners, a publisher since 1969 producing world-famous guides to the legal profession.

"Tanner & Guin Welcomes New Associate"
Congratulations to Ashley M. Emerson, who joins the firm as an associate. Mrs. Emerson holds a J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and will practice in the areas of Business and Commercial Law; Business and Civil Litigation; Construction Law and Litigation; Employment Litigation; and Workplace Law.

Tanner & Guin, LLC Receives "Family Friendly" Certificate of Achievement
Tanner & Guin, LLC has been named as a 2005 recipient of the "Family Friendly" Certificate of Achievement by the Corporate Foundation for Children (CFC). CFC annually recognizes a business/corporation that implements policies and procedures that are "Family Friendly" and that assist employees in finding a balance between work and family. Tanner & Guin's infant care program is an example of such a policy. Bert Guy, managing partner of Tanner & Guin, accepted the award on behalf of the Tanner & Guin family on August 3 at Child Abuse Prevention Services in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Brandon R. King, Esq., to be named to Onondaga County Bar Association Board of Directors
Brandon R. King, Esq., has been selected to be appointed to the Onondaga County Bar Association Board of Directors effective January 1, 2007. Brandon currently serves as the chairperson of the OCBA's Mock Trial Competition Program.

David A. D’Agostino, Esq., wins two Workers’ Compensation Claims based on violation of Section 114-a Fraud.
David D’Agostino represented the interests of Walmart in two different Workers’ Compensation claims brought by the same claimant for different injury sites. After trial testimony of claimant and claimant’s treating physician, David successfully argued that claimant fraudulently misrepresented the facts about one of her injuries. The workers’ compensation law judge therefore denied both of claimant's cases.

“Aspects of Construction Scheduling” recently published in the Section of Public Contract Law’s The Procurement Lawyer.
Mark Hanson recently prepared an article entitled “Aspects of Construction Scheduling,” which was published in the October 2006 edition of the The Procurement Lawyer, the quarterly members’ publication of the ABA’s Section of Public Contract Law. The article provides information about and several current developments in relation to some of the key concepts involved in network scheduling of construction projects. The article addresses the concepts of float, concurrent delay and acceptable proof of schedule-related claims.
