Firm Attorneys John Reynolds and Rob Jackstadt Win Jury Trial; Jury Awards $4.7 Million to Firm Clients in Commercial Litigation.
Firm attorneys John Reynolds and Robert Jackstadt successfully completed a two-week trial in Madison County, Illinois and secured a verdict of approximately $4.7 million dollars on behalf of the firm’s clients. At issue in the trial was whether the defendants’ horizontal directional drilling operations near the Wood River Refinery in Hartford, Illinois had damaged an underground sewer belonging to the Plaintiffs. On September 29, 2006 the jury found defendants liable and awarded almost $ 4.7 million in damages.

The trial team for the plaintiffs consisted of Peter John, John Reynolds, Robert Jackstadt, and Mark Zehler. Mr. John served as lead counsel during the trial. Mr. John is a nationally recognized trial lawyer with the firm of Williams, Montgomery & John, based in Chicago, Illinois.

John Reynolds served as lead local counsel throughout the trial. Mr. Reynolds is a shareholder of Tueth, Keeney, Cooper, Mohan & Jackstadt, P.C. He has successfully represented clients in complex, commercial litigation, including construction litigation. Following the verdict, Mr. Reynolds remarked that

“As with most trials involving complex technical issues, there are always many challenges to conveying the essential elements of your case in a straightforward and convincing manner. This case was no exception. Fortunately, we were able to rely on the use of modern trial technology to assist us in the presentation and organization of our exhibits and arguments to the jury. It was exciting to be able capture the jury’s attention and focus it on the issues we felt were compelling in the case.”

Robert Jackstadt from Tueth Keeney also assisted in the trial. Mr. Jackstadt, a founding shareholder of Tueth Keeney , practices in the areas of commercial, construction and education litigation. He has tried to a conclusion many jury and non-jury cases in federal and state courts located in Illinois and Missouri.

Also assisting the trial team was Mark Zehler, in-house counsel for one of the plaintiffs.
