Mark S. Olinsky - Delaware Affirms High Standard In Director Suits
Mark Olinsky, a Member of the Firm, was interviewed for a January 2007 Compliance Week article titled "Delaware Affirms High Standard In Director Suits." This article discusses a recent Delaware Supreme Court ruling in which the Court continued to protect corporate directors. According to Mr. Olinsky, "[Although the decision] doesn't change what people should be doing, directors can take comfort that if they put a system in place and make sure they're monitoring it and not looking away, they won't be blamed - or shouldn't be blamed - for acting in bad faith by not being perfect.

Robert Fishman encourages municipalities to take advantage of Massachusetts’ expedited permitting process
The Boston Business Journal published an article, “Fast-track permitting law requires leadership," by Robert Fishman, a real estate partner and co-chair of the firm's Land Use practice, in its January 1 issue.

Bob worked with legislators on behalf of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) to successfully negotiate and pass a new streamlined permitting law, signed by Governor Romney on August 2. The law, among other provisions, dramatically shortens trial court delay, which averages 2 1/2 years.

This legislation also provides cities and towns with the tools they need to make Massachusetts more open to development, which Bob believes is an important step in shedding the state’s reputation as unfriendly to businesses. He encourages cities and towns to use these tools to ensure that the state remains strong and vibrant.
