34 Troutman Sanders Attorneys Named Virginia's 'Legal Elite'

Sixty-one Porter Wright Attorneys Named to Ohio Super Lawyers
Sixty attorneys from Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP were recently selected by their peers and through the independent research of the publishers of Law & Politics and Cincinnati Magazine for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers® 2007. Super Lawyers comprise the top five percent of lawyers in each state in more than 60 practice areas and were chosen based on surveys of more than 33,000 lawyers across Ohio.

William "Mo" Cowan Appointed to Diversity Committee by Middlesex District Attorney-Elect Leone
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. announced that William "Mo" Cowan, a Member in the firm's Boston office, has been appointed to incoming Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's Diversity Committee.

The 17-member committee will advise District Attorney-Elect Leone on topics ranging from staffing issues to the development of a talented and diverse administration. Representatives from both the public and private sectors were chosen for the Diversity Committee, which includes former U.S. Attorney Wayne Budd and State Senator Jarrett Barrios.

Mr. Cowan is a Member in the firm's Litigation Section and serves as the Chair of the Anti-Money Laundering Compliance and Counseling practice group. He has extensive experience representing corporations and individuals in a wide range of complex matters including securities fraud, director and officer liability, and corporate governance. The Immediate Past Chair of the Hiring Committee, Mr. Cowan is currently a member of the firm's Diversity Committee.

Since 2004, Boston Magazine and Law and Politics magazine have identified Mr. Cowan as a Super Lawyer. In 2003, the Boston Business Journal named him as one of the "40 Under 40" business leaders. Currently a member of the Northeastern University Corporation, he is the Immediate Past President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. Mr. Cowan has also served as a director and/or trustee of several non-profit organizations, including the Roxbury Preparatory Charter School, Project STEP, the Boston Bar Association, the Boston Bar Foundation, the Boston Lawyers Group, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, and the New England Minority Purchasing Council. He received his B.A. from Duke University (1991) and his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law (1994).

Veteran Bankruptcy Attorney Jeffry A. Davis Joins Mintz Levin as a Member, Continuing Expansion of Firm's San Diego Office
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., a full-service, 450-lawyer AmLaw 100 firm with offices throughout the U.S. and in the U.K., announced that Jeffry A. Davis, a veteran bankruptcy attorney, has joined the firm's San Diego office as a member, practicing in the Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Commercial Law Section.

Prior to joining Mintz Levin, Mr. Davis was a partner at DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. Over the course of his career, he has focused on representing companies in connection with bankruptcy, loan workouts, insolvency and debtor and creditor rights. Mr. Davis has significant experience providing bankruptcy counsel to debtors, creditors and buyers in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, software, health care real estate and food service.

"Jeff's impressive background and extensive experience handling a variety of bankruptcy matters of behalf of clients in a range of industries further strengthens Mintz Levin's growing, full-service West Coast corporate practice," said Craig Hunsaker, head of the firm's San Diego office and a Member of the firm's Employment Labor and Benefits Section.

Mr. Davis, is admitted to practice in California and New York, the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Eastern District of New York. A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, he earned a law degree from Boston University.

Mr. Davis has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for the past nine consecutive years and is listed among San Diego Magazine's Best Lawyers in San Diego. He is also a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and related issues for various professional and trade groups.

With a nationally recognized bankruptcy practice, Mintz Levin represents all parties and interests involved in debtor/creditor relationships including debtors, creditors, committees, examiners, trustees, lenders and borrowers, landlords, equipment lessors, acquirers, bondholders and indenture trustees. MINTZ LEVIN EXPANDS NEW YORK HEALTH LAW PRACTICE
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. - a full-service, 480-lawyer AmLaw 100 firm with offices throughout the U.S. and the U.K. - has expanded its New York health law practice with the addition of three highly respected attorneys.

Andrew B. Roth, the former head of McDermott, Will & Emery's New York Health Law Practice, and David S. Ivill, also a former partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, have joined Mintz Levin's Health Law Section as Members. Nili S. Yolin has joined as an associate.

"Andy is a superb transactional and regulatory health care lawyer. His many years of experience working with health care networks, hospitals, long term care facilities, health plans and managed care companies, complement the broad range of our health law practice. In addition, his national reputation and expertise in representing academic medical centers and teaching hospitals throughout the country in matters involving the accreditation of their graduate medical education programs by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education adds a new dimension to our practice," said Robert D. Clark, a Member and head of the Firm's Health Law Practice. "David brings similar experience to the Firm and, together with Andy and Nili, will be instrumental in growing Mintz Levin's Health Law Practice."

Mr. Roth's extensive experience covers the representation of a wide array of clients in the health industry, both on the provider side (including multi-hospital systems and individual hospitals of all sizes, nursing homes and physician groups), and on the payor side (including managed care companies, HMOs and prepaid health service plans). He is active in health industry mergers and acquisitions, and the establishment of joint ventures and other collaborative affiliations. In the regulatory area, he counsels clients in connection with corporate compliance and corporate governance, fraud and abuse, hospital-medical staff matters, HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid matters. Mr. Roth's graduate medical education clients include many prestigious academic medical centers, as well as other teaching institutions, across the United States.

A frequent speaker on a wide range of health law issues, Mr. Roth has appeared before many professional organizations, including the American Health Lawyers Association, Greater New York Hospital Association, the Association of Program Directors in Surgery and the Association of Hospital Medical Educators, among others. He also has written articles, book chapters and texts that have appeared in a variety of legal and health industry journals and other publications.

In 2006, Chambers and Partners recognized Mr. Roth as a leading health care lawyer in New York in its publication, Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Mr. Roth is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and earned his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where he was a member of the Hofstra Law Review. He is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, D.C.

Mr. Ivill is an accomplished attorney with expertise in many areas of health law, including the representation of not-for-profit and tax-exempt organizations in numerous types of transactions, and providing counseling to health care institutions on corporate, transactional and regulatory matters. Mr. Ivill has particular expertise in working with federally qualified health centers, disproportionate share hospitals, and the Section 340B federal drug pricing program. He represents hospitals, long term care facilities and other health care providers. He also has a broad physician-based practice, representing physicians and medical groups in joint ventures and other transactions, as well as fraud and abuse, and other regulatory matters.

After receiving his bachelor's degree from Westminster College, Mr. Ivill graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and practiced podiatric surgery for more than ten years. He thereafter obtained his law degree from New York University School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor for the Review of Law and Social Change. He is a member of the bars of the States of New York and Connecticut.

Ms. Yolin's health law practice focuses on corporate, transactional and regulatory compliance matters. She regularly counsels clients on corporate governance, licensure issues, medical staff matters, fraud and abuse, and HIPAA. She also is active in working with teaching hospital clients on accreditation issues involving their graduate medical education programs.

Ms. Yolin is a member of the New York bar. She is a graduate of New York University and Brooklyn Law School, where she was a Second Circuit Review Editor for the Brooklyn Law Review.

Former Staff Director of United States Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Joins ML Strategies
ML Strategies, LLC, the consulting affiliate of law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, PC, announced that Kenneth M. Connolly, a veteran staffer of the United States Senate, has joined its Washington, D.C. office as a member of the government affairs division.

Most recently, Mr. Connolly was a staff director for the United States Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. In this position he advised nineteen U.S. Senators on issues ranging from environment, energy and infrastructure. Mr. Connolly also managed twenty-five staff; drafted and reviewed legislation and conducted outreach to a variety of constituent groups, including interest groups, state and local governments, industry and the administration. Earlier in his career, he served as legislative director for Senator Jim Jeffords (R-VT) on multiple issues before committees including Appropriations, Energy, Finance, Foreign Relations and Health-Education-Labor-Pensions.

Mr. Connolly joins former Capitol Hill veterans David Leiter, the former Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy during the Clinton/Gore administration and Chief of Staff to U.S. Senator John Kerry (D- Massachusetts); Mark Buse who worked 18 years for United States Senator John McCain (R-AZ), both in the Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives and was Staff Director and Majority Policy Director of the Senate Commerce Committee and; Steve Irizarrry, formerly Senior Health Counsel to the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, the Senate Aging, and the House Energy and Commerce Committees.

Among Mr. Connolly's many accomplishments during his tenure as staff director include the reauthorization of the federal transportation program and enactment of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. He also played a key role in Senate passage of the Water Resources Development Act and managed committee consideration of Clean Act reforms, the President's Clear Skies proposal and water infrastructure legislation. In addition, he helped author the first comprehensive climate change legislation.

"Ken's experience handling an array of environmental policy issues and his deep knowledge of the environmental sector further builds upon ML Strategies' commitment to providing it s clients with valuable strategic consulting services," said Stephen P. Tocco, President of ML Strategies.

A longtime resident of Weston, Massachusetts, Mr. Connolly graduated from the University of Vermont and earned a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
