FAIZA SAEED TO SPEAK AT INSTITUTE ON FEDERAL SECURITIES
Cravath partner Faiza J. Saeed will speak at The 25th Annual Institute on Federal Securities, co-sponsored by West Legalworks and The Florida Bar Business Law Section, to be held in Miami, FL. Faiza will serve as a panelist for a discussion entitled "Negotiated Transactions and Deal Issues". Panelists will discuss structuring the process, controlling shareholders as sellers, social issues, financing conditions, deal protection and deal jumping, indemnification, and material adverse change provisions.

MIKE SCHLER TO SPEAK AT ABA SECTION OF TAXATION'S MIDYEAR MEETING
Cravath partner Michael L. Schler will speak at the ABA Section of Taxation's 2007 Midyear Meeting in Hollywood, FL. Mike will serve as a panelist in a presentation by the Committee on Affiliated and Related Corporations entitled "Loss Disallowance and Loss Duplication Regulations.

Clark Hill PLC and Brady Hathaway Join Firms
Clark Hill PLC CEO John Hern and Brady Hathaway Brady and Bretz P.C. President Thomas M.J. Hathaway announced plans today to merge their law firms. Brady Hathaway’s attorneys will join Clark Hill’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, creating one of the largest and most distinguished management employment practice groups in Michigan with nearly 35 attorneys.

“By combining our firms, we provide our clients with a wealth of experience and extensive resources to ensure the highest quality representation. We are delighted about enhancing our services to our clients and lending our expertise and experience to Clark Hill client matters,” said Dan Bretz, Brady Hathaway’s Vice President. “Our approach will naturally remain the same: provide premier, value based legal services to our clients at all times.”

Tom Brady, a founding shareholder of Brady Hathaway, will serve as co-leader of the Labor and Employment Practice Group.

“Labor and employment matters span every industry regardless of size or revenue. Providing our clients with the most experienced, talented attorneys in the state is a top priority. We feel the technical expertise and industry knowledge our group offers clients is second to none,” Clark Hill CEO John Hern said. “We are thrilled to bring together the members of Brady Hathaway and Clark Hill. Brady Hathaway’s attorneys have relocated their downtown Detroit office into Clark Hill’s headquarters located at 500 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Brady Hathaway was founded in 1989, and specializes in management labor and employment matters. The firm is rated "AV"—the highest rating available—in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Firm Directory. Five shareholders and two associates are also "AV" rated. Brady Hathaway attorneys are nationally recognized and have been named in the Best Lawyers in America repeatedly and also honored by Chambers USA America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and by Law & Practice’s Michigan Super Lawyers.

In addition to Hathaway, Brady and Bretz, Paul W. Coughenour is joining Clark Hill as an equity member and Connie M. Cessante and Jeffrey A. Steele are becoming income members of the firm. David A. Hardesty, Tracy A. Leahy, and David M. Cessante will also join the firm as senior attorneys.

Butzel adds Attorneys Thomas Shaevsky, Julie Rajzer and John Stevenson
Butzel Long has added three attorneys to its Bloomfield Hills office. Thomas L. Shaevsky is a senior attorney and Julie A. Rajzer and John R. Stevenson are associate attorneys.

Mr. Shaevsky practices in the area of employee benefits. He advises for-profit and nonprofit employers, as well as individuals, on compliance and planning issues pertaining to a wide range of retirement and welfare plan issues. His experience includes counseling on fiduciary duty compliance, prohibited transaction avoidance and correction, reporting and disclosure issues, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO)s, as well as Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other benefits issues. Mr. Shaevsky represents clients undergoing IRS and U.S. Department of Labor audits.

Prior to joining Butzel Long, Mr. Shaevsky was engaged as in-house cousel to Comerica Bank's Institutional Trust Department, counseling and advising business owners and managers with regard to retirement plan issues and general compliance issues. He has assisted with the formulation of a multitude of business decisions and policies.

Mr. Shaevsky also has experience counseling public entities on Open Meetings Act, Freedom of Information Act, and conflict of interest issues.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 1992, magna cum laude, The Order of the Coif; Michigan Law Review: Contributing Editor), and the University of Michigan (B.A., with high distinction, Angell Scholar, 1989). Immediately following law school graduation, Mr. Shaevsky served as a law clerk to the Honorable John Feikens of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Mr. Shaevsky is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (taxation section), American Bar Association (taxation section), and the Michigan Employee Benefits Conference. He is a resident of West Bloomfield.

Ms. Rajzer concentrates her practice in the area of intellectual property law. She has expertise in all aspects of intellectual property and information technology law, including prosecuting patents; writing patentability/infringement opinions, prosecuting trademark registration applications; conducting patent and trademark searches, preparing, evaluating and negotiating licensing agreements, writing information technology/e-commerce/internet policies and agreements, obtaining copyright protection, obtaining licenses to use copyrighted works, advising schools on copyright matters, managing computer fraud and abuse act cases, managing intellectual property litigation, and advising clients on their intellectual property.

Ms. Rajzer is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2002), where she was a managing editor and published member of the Law Review; received a Merit Scholarship, a Jurisprudence Achievement Award for Secured Transactions, and served as President (2000-2001) and Computer Intelligence Officer (1999-2000) of the Cyberlaw Society. Ms. Rajzer earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan (B.S., Computer Science, 1999). Prior to law school, she was employed as a web site designer and as a computer and networking technician.

She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Computer Law Section and the Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association. Ms. Rajzer is a resident of Grosse Pointe Woods.

Mr. Stevenson concentrates his practice in the insolvency and restructuring area. He has represented clients in bankruptcy matters in the automotive, technology, telecommunications, energy, construction, food service, and pharmaceutical industries. His experience includes the representation of debtors, creditors' committees and individual creditors in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.

He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (J.D., 2002) and the University of Michigan (B.A., 1993.) Mr. Stevenson is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association. Mr. Stevenson is a resident of Bloomfield Hills.

National Arbitration Forum Welcomes Christopher M. Ernst to Its National Panel of Neutrals
Christopher M. Ernst of Cleveland joins the National Arbitration Forum's national panel of independent and neutral arbitrators and mediators. As a new member, Mr. Ernst brings to the National Arbitration Forum (FORUM) 13 years of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and over 15 years of general legal experience, with specific expertise in the law areas of business and commercial law, construction and general litigation.

Mr. Ernst is a partner at Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLC in Cleveland. He earned his legal education from Case Western Reserve School of Law in 1991. He is the author of Baldwin’s Ohio Practice: Tort Law, the only comprehensive paper on tort law published for the state of Ohio. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of its bi-monthly companion journal, Tort Law Journal of Ohio. He has been listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law and is also recognized as one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers in the 2004 through 2006 Cincinnati Magazine, as voted by his peers. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association as Secretary and as member of its Corporate Counsel section, as well as member of the American Bar Association and Cleveland Bar Association. Nathan O. Greene Joins Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione
Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to announce that Nathan O. Greene has recently joined the firm as an associate at the firm’s Salt Lake City, Utah office.
