Dwight Poffenberger and Bill Allen are named partners at WH&E
J. Dwight Poffenberger is involved in many phases of the firm's IP practice. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1994, Dwight is also registered to practice before U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dwight joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1995, following prior experience with the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Enforcement and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office where he was a patent examiner. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University Of Michigan in 1987. He then received a Juris Doctor degree from the George Mason University School of Law in 1993.


William R. Allen, Ph.D. is involved in all phases of the firm's intellectual property practice. His expertise is concentrated in the areas of mechanical and materials processing technologies. Admitted to the Ohio bar in 2000, and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Bill joined Wood, Herron & Evans in 1999. Prior to receiving his law degree, he worked as a materials scientist at three federal materials research laboratories. Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics & Mathematics from Emory & Henry College in 1980 and a Ph.D. in Physics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. He then obtained his Juris Doctor degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1999.

Ulmer & Berne LLP Recognized by The BTI Consulting Group as One of the Best Firms In the Nation at Providing Value for the Dollar

Stevens & Lee Names Five New Shareholders
Stevens & Lee announces that Anthony S. DiSandro, Jeffrey A. Harenza, Lisa McElligott Miller, David R. Payne and Thomas G. Whalen, Jr., have been named shareholders of the Firm effective January 1, 2007.

Anthony S. Disandro represents various financial institutions in all aspects of commercial lending, including asset-based, secured, unsecured, construction and real estate loans. He also counsels private and public companies with structuring, negotiation and documentation of various commercial transactions. Mr. DiSandro received a J.D. from Temple University School of Law and a B.S. from Villanova University. He is resident in the Firm’s Valley Forge office.

Jeffrey A. Harenza concentrates his practice in corporate and finance matters with emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, capital formation and corporate governance in consolidating industries. Mr. Harenza completed the J.D./MBA program at The Dickinson School of Law, Lehigh University and St. Joseph’s University. He is resident in the Firm’s Reading and New York City offices.

Lisa McElligott Miller represents financial institutions in structured finance, asset securitization, loan trading and sales of loan servicing rights. In advance of her legal career, she served as Supervisor of Regional Financial Reporting and Budgeting at Sallie Mae. She served as a law clerk for the Honorable Marvin R. Halbert, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Complex Litigation Unit. Ms. McElligott Miller received a J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, an MBA, cum laude, from Wilkes University and a B.S. from Wilkes University. She is resident in the Firm’s Reading office.

David R. Payne concentrates his practice in banking law, securities law and mergers and acquisitions with an emphasis on the representation of financial institutions. Most recently, Mr. Payne has acted as counsel to four area de novo, or “community” banks. Prior to attending law school, he was an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander after 24 years of service. He received a J.D. from Temple University School of Law, an M.S. from the University of Scranton and a B.A. from the University of LaVerne. He is resident in the Firm’s Valley Forge office.

Thomas G. Whalen, Jr. concentrates his practice in bankruptcy, restructuring and other commercial litigation matters. He regularly appears in the federal and state courts of Delaware and in other jurisdictions. Mr. Whalen was a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas M. Twardowski of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He holds a B.A., cum laude, from Temple University and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law. He is resident in the Firm’s Wilmington office.

QUILLEN JOINS SMITH HAUGHEY AS HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
The law firm of Smith Haughey Rice & Roegge is pleased to announce that Jill A. Quillen has joined the firm as the Human Resources Director. Jill will manage the day-to-day human resources operations of the firm and assist the COO on special projects.

Prior to joining Smith Haughey, Jill served as the Human Resources Manager at Strategic Administrative & Reimbursement Services, LLC. Jill received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Human Resource Management from the University of Michigan – Flint. She received her certification as a Professional in Human Resources from the HR Certification Institute, and is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management and the Association of Legal Administrators.

Five Senniger Powers Attorneys Named Super Lawyers

Robinson & McElwee PLLC Announces New Members
Robinson & McElwee PLLC is pleased to announce that Charles Saffer and David Griffith have been promoted to Members of the Firm.

Charles Saffer is a member in the Firm's Corporate Department. He graduated from West Virginia University with a B.A. in Political Science and the West Virginia University College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Mr. Saffer is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. He engages in a general business practice with a focus on real estate transactions and business litigation.

David Griffith is a member in the Firm's Litigation Department. He graduated from Pennsylvania State Univeristy with a B.A. in Political Science and is a graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. Mr. Griffith is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. His practice encompasses all aspects of civil litigation in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels.

United Way of Long Island Elects William M. Savino of Rivkin Radler as New Board Chair
United Way of Long Island's Board of Directors has elected William M. Savino, managing partner of Rivkin Radler, as its chair of the Board of Directors beginning January 1, 2007.

Savino has served on the United Way Board for 12 years. Along with his predecessor Tom Cruso, he is co-founder of the Long Island Insurance Community's annual gala, which to date has raised more than $2.55 million for United Way and other local nonprofit organizations.

"Bill's background, business management experience, civic mindedness and proven leadership qualities confirm that his appointment as United Way Board chair is a strong choice," said Cruso, president of Cruso Associates, Inc. "Bill is a true visionary and, as I step down as Board chair, I am certain that his appointment will highly benefit United Way and the many community partner nonprofit organizations it supports."

In addition to serving as Rivkin Radler's managing partner, Savino is a member of the firm's litigation group. He has served as counsel to the New York State Senate Committee on Insurance. Presently, Savino's practice concentrates on commercial litigation and insurance coverage litigation and related counseling. Savino has litigated before trial and appellate courts throughout the United States and is currently representing certain interests in the World Trade Center liability insurance related litigation.

Savino currently serves as a member of the board of directors of Firemen's Fund Indemnity Corporation, and has served as a member of the board of the Parkway Insurance Company. He also presently serves on the boards of directors of the Long Island Association, Fair Media Council and the Nassau County Bar Association, where he served as president in 2003-04. Savino is president of the Villanova University Alumni Association. He also served as mayor of the Village of Old Brookville from 1995 to 2005.

"It is an honor to continue the good works of my friends and colleagues, Tom Cruso and Pat Foye," said Savino. "They have done a wonderful job of raising the profile and effectiveness of Long Island's United Way. Along with our board of directors, executive committee and first class staff, I will do my best to continue to make the important work of United Way of Long Island as successful as it can be."

Savino has been listed as one of the "100 Most Influential Long Islanders" by the Long Island Business News, and is named among the "Top 50 Most Influential Long Islanders" according to the Long Island Press.
