Leading Fund Formation Partners Join Kirkland & Ellis International LLP
Kirkland & Ellis International LLP is pleased to announce a significant expansion of its fund formation team in London with the hiring of three leading partners, Mark Mifsud, Richard Watkins and Justin Dolling from SJ Berwin LLP.

With SJ Berwin since 1995, Mr. Mifsud concentrates in fund formation, co-investment plans, secondaries, carried interest structuring and related matters. Cited as a leading investment funds lawyer in a number of legal directories, including Chambers UK 2006, Guide to the Legal Profession, Mr. Mifsud is recognized as a key figure in UK fund formation. The Lawyer named him to its prestigious "Hot 100" list of rising stars in 2006 and Legal Business listed him as one of the top rainmakers in London.
primarily advises in relation to private equity fund structuring, carried interest, co-investment and other private equity incentive matters, and also advises on private equity transactions including secondaries, spin-outs and mergers of private equity houses.

Mr. Dolling's practice focuses on advising private equity managers in the restructuring and establishment of private equity investment funds, secondaries, carried interest arrangements and co-investment plans. He also advises on a broad range of transactions relating to the restructuring of private equity funds, leveraging and refinancing of such funds, and buyouts and spin-outs relating to management houses.

Kennedy Covington Welcomes Ten New Partners
Kennedy Covington, one of the largest law firms in the Carolinas, is pleased to announce that eight attorneys have been voted into the firm's partnership. Kennedy Covington attorneys that became partners are:

Grayson S. Hale - Hale is a member of the Business Law Department and has been with the firm since 2003. He focuses his practice on corporate and securities law, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, finance, licensing, joint ventures/strategic alliances, and general business law. Hale received his law degree from the University of Arkansas (J.D., cum laude, 1998).

Rene J. LeBlanc-Allman - Le-Blanc-Allman is a member of the Financial Services Department and has been with the firm since 1999. She focuses her practice on representing financial institutions in structuring, negotiating and documenting secured and unsecured domestic and international lending transactions. LeBlanc-Allman received her law degree from the University of South Carolina (J.D., magna cum laude, 1999).

Jared D. Mobley - Mobley is a member of the Business Law Department and has been with the firm since 1999. He focuses his practice on federal, state and local taxation, including creating and implementing tax-efficient structures. Mobley received his law degree from the University of South Carolina (J.D., 1998) and his advanced law degree from New York University (LL.M, Taxation, 1999).

Samuel T. Reaves - Reaves is a member of the Litigation Department and has been with the firm since 1999. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation, with a particular focus on real estate-related litigation. Reaves received his law degree from the University of Alabama (J.D., magna cum laude, 1998).

Carolyn Gilmer Shaw - Shaw is a member of the Business Law Department and has been with the firm since 2000. She focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, family business planning, and estate administration. Shaw received her law degree from the University of North Carolina (J.D., 1977).

Mark V. Thigpen - Thigpen is a member the Real Estate Department and has been with the firm since 1999. He focuses his practice on the representation of commercial real estate developers in acquisitions, leasing and finance matters for office, retail, and mixed-use projects. Thigpen received his law degree from the University of South Carolina (J.D., magna cum laude, 1999).

Margaret R. Westbrook - Westbrook is a member of the Litigation Department and has been with the firm since 1998. She focuses her practice on bankruptcy, creditors rights, corporate, and commercial litigation. Westbrook received her law degree from the University of North Carolina (J.D., with honors, 1996).

Evan N. Wolkofsky - Wolkofsky is a member of the Financial Services Department and has been with the firm since 2002. He focuses his practice in the areas of commercial lending and corporate finance, with an emphasis on syndicated loans and leveraged finance transactions. Wolkofsky received his law degree from Wake Forest University (J.D., 1998).

Attorneys who joined Kennedy Covington as partners during 2006 are:

Kevin J. Coenen* - Coenen joined Kennedy Covington's Charlotte office as a partner in the Business Law Department. He focuses his practice on federal income tax aspects of complex business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, debt and equity restructuring, bankruptcy and executive compensation. Coenen received his law degree from Ohio State University (J.D., summa cum laude, 1997).

Mack A. Paul IV - Paul joined Kennedy Covington's Raleigh office as a partner in the Real Estate Department. He focuses his practice on real estate development as well as zoning and land use. Paul received his law degree from Columbia University (J.D., Harlan Fisk Stone Scholar, 1991).

Holland & Hart Welcomes Three New Attorneys To Boise Office
Attorneys Brian Hansen, Hilary Bradbury, and Sarah Davis have joined the Boise office of the Rocky Mountain regional law firm of Holland & Hart. Hansen is of counsel, and Bradbury is an associate, with the firm's business entities and transactions group. Davis is an associate with the firm's commercial litigation group.

Hansen previously was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for MPC Computers and an Area Vice President, Legal and Corporate Secretary for Micron Electronics. He has experience in a broad range of business and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, international transactions, securities, license and distribution agreements, and real estate. Hansen received his J.D. degree in 1990 from the University of Virginia School of Law, and his B.A. degree in 1987 summa cum laude from Brigham Young University.

Bradbury previously was a law clerk to District Judge Michael McLaughlin of Idaho's Fourth Judicial District Court. She received her J.D. degree in 2005 from the University of Idaho College of Law, where she was a symposium coordinator for the Idaho Law Review, and her B.A. degree in 2001 from Albertson College of Idaho.

Davis previously was a law clerk to Senior Circuit Judge Stephen S. Trott of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She received her J.D. degree in 2005 summa cum laude from the University of Idaho College of Law, where she was an edition editor for the Idaho Law Review, and her B.A. degree in 2001 summa cum laude from the University of North Dakota.

Hodgson Russ partner Jason E. Markel named to Family Justice Center board
Jason E. Markel, a partner in Hodgson Russ LLP’s Business Litigation and Torts, Insurance & Products Liability Practice Groups, has been named to the board of directors of the Family Justice Center (FJC).

The FJC brings professionals and services together under one roof to help victims of family violence. The FJC provides a coordinated, efficient, and user-friendly system that decreases barriers, improves the delivery of services to victims, and increases victim safety as well as offender accountability. Services from police officers, prosecutors, forensic medical professionals, probation officers, legal advocates, shelter service professionals, chaplains, support services professionals, and a supervised waiting area for children while clients are meeting with center professionals are available to help victims through a difficult transitional period.

Mr. Markel concentrates his practice on general civil litigation, including commercial disputes, products liability, and general personal injury/insurance defense in state, federal, and appellate courts. Mr. Markel also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance consulting and the representation of manufacturers, contractors, nursing homes, sawmills, and other businesses in connection with OSHA inspections, including resultant OSHA citations, penalties, contest proceedings, and general compliance matters.

Bahrain acquires 30 per cent stake in McLaren Group
The Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, a wholly owned company of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 30 per cent stake in McLaren Group. Post completion this will make Mumtalakat Holding Company the second largest shareholder in McLaren behind DaimlerChrysler, the world's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles.

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised Mumtalakat Holding Company on the transaction, which is subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities.

Dubai corporate partner Bruce Embley led the Freshfields team, supported by associate Michael Horman.

Senator John J. Cullerton Reappointed As Majority Caucus Whip
FagelHaber LLC is pleased to announce that Senator John J. Cullerton has been reappointed by the President of the Illinois Senate as the Majority Caucus Whip.

Senator Cullerton has been a member of the Illinois General Assembly since 1979 and a State Senator since 1991. He chairs the Executive Subcommittee on Amendments and the Financial Institutions Subcommittee on Special Issues. He co-chairs the Judiciary Committee, serves on many other committees and is the sponsor of significant legislation.

Senator Cullerton practices in FagelHaber's Government Relations Department, Zoning and Licensing Department, and Real Estate Tax Assessment Department. His focus includes:
