Six Attorneys Join the Orange County Office of Rutan & Tucker
Rutan & Tucker LLP, California’s largest full-service law firm based in Orange County, has announced the addition of Michelle C. Hribar, Hengameh S. Safaei, Rushika Kumararatne, Joseph David Larsen, Glen Worthington, and Stephanie Villaseñor as attorneys.

Hribar and Safaei are have joined the firm’s Trial Section. Hribar, the top ranked graduate of Chapman University School of Law in 2006, served on the executive board of the Chapman Law Review and was a member of the school’s Appellate Moot Court Honors Board. She also served as a judicial extern for the California Court of Appeal and the United States District Court, Central District of California. Hribar earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkley.

During law school, Safaei, a graduate of University of California, Hastings College of Law in 2006, served as executive production editor for the Hastings Law Journal and was a 2L class representative for the Associated Students of U.C. Hastings. Safaei earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California where she was a member of the Blackstonians Honor Society.

Kumararatne has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities Section. During law school, she participated in the Georgetown Juvenile Justice Clinic, where she represented juveniles in the D.C. Superior Court. She was also an executive editor of the Georgetown Journal of International Law. She earned her law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2006, and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Whittier College.

Larsen and Worthington have joined the firm’s Public Law Section. Larsen earned his law degree from the Michael E. Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University in 2006, where he was a recipient of the Academic Leadership Scholarship. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University.

Worthington received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2006, where he was an active member of the Barristers’ Council Moot Court program. He received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003.

Villaseñor has joined the firm’s Employment/Labor Law Section. During law school, she served on the Submission Board for the Stanford Journal of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, co-chaired the Stanford Latino Law Students Association and the Women of Color Action Network and participated in the Kirkwood Moot Court Competition. She earned her law degree from Stanford Law School in 2006 and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the Loyola Marymount.

Rutan & Tucker LLP Elects Five New Partners
Rutan & Tucker LLP, California’s largest full-service law firm based in Orange County, has elevated attorneys Susan Barricella, John Bradley, Kerra Carlson, Jennifer Irrgang, and Karen Van Dijk to the level of partner.

Barricella practices in the firm’s Intellectual Property/Technology Law Section with a focus on trademark and copyright issues. Her clients range from individuals and privately held businesses to publicly traded companies in technology, e-commerce, apparel, sporting equipment, mortgage, and home decor. She received her law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1997 and is an adjunct professor at Chapman University School of Law.

Bradley practices in the firm’s Corporate and Securities Section where he represents public and private clients in a wide range of corporate and securities transactions including public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, and Securities and Exchange Commission matters. He received his law degree in 1999 from the University of California at San Francisco’s Hastings College of Law.

Carlson is a member of the firm’s Public Law Section. Her practice areas include redevelopment law, municipal law and general real estate transactional law. She received her law degree in 1995 from the University of California at San Francisco’s Hastings College of Law.

Irrgang is a member of the firm’s Real Estate Section where she specializes in real estate financing, acquisition and sales transactions and environmental law. She received her law degree cum laude from Villanova University School of Law in 1997.

Van Dijk is a member of the firm’s Public Law Section. Her specialty is education law, with a secondary emphasis in civil rights litigation, employment law, eminent domain, and municipal law.

Her clients include numerous public agencies and school districts. She received her law degree from USC in 1999 where she served as a member of the college’s National Moot Court Team, and placed as a finalist in the Hale Moot Court Honors Competition.

Ken Abdo Interviewed About Digital Distribution
Ken Abdo was interviewed for an article about digital distribution that appeared in the January 15th Minneapolis Star Tribune. The article describes digital licensing for ringtones. Ken talked about the growth in this practice and how it affects our clients, including Minneapolis client, Lipps Inc., who recorded the song Funkytown in 1980. Funkytown is a popular song for digital licensing and is even sought after for musical greeting cards.

GREGORY D. SWOPE ELECTED DIRECTOR
The law firm of Krugliak, Wilkins, Griffiths & Dougherty Co., L.P.A. is pleased to announce that Gregory D. Swope has been elected director. His practice is focused in the areas of Civil and Commercial Litigation.

A Springfield High School graduate, Swope earned a B.A., in journalism from Kent State University and his J.D., from the University of Akron School of Law where he was awarded a Dean’s Club Scholarship and was named Outstanding Constitutional Law student. Swope is a member of the Stark County, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, and American Bar Associations.

A resident of Dover, Swope serves on the board of directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters and attends St Joseph Catholic Church.

Hill Wallack LLP Community Association Practice Group Attorneys Present Seminar
Partners of Hill Wallack LLP’s Community Association Law Practice Group were recently panelists at the Lorman Education Services Seminar “Legal Aspects of Condominium Development and Homeowners’ Associations in New Jersey”. Partner-in-charge, Ronald L. Perl and partner Michael S. Karpoff provided valuable instruction regarding recent developments in community association law, recurring issues regarding state and federal laws governing associations and proposals for major statutory changes pending in the legislature.

Ronald L. Perl of Pennington, is nationally recognized for his work in the field of community association law. He is a member of the National College of Community Association Lawyers, and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall Law School in Newark, N.J. He is president-elect of the National Community Associations Institute.

Michael S. Karpoff of Highland Park is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a civil trial attorney and is a member of Community Association Institute’s National College of Community Association Lawyers. He graduated from Rutgers College, holds a Master of Science degree in public relations from Boston University, and received his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers Law School – Newark. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
