Miles & Stockbridge P.C. is pleased to announce that George W. Cox, Ph.D. has joined the firm as an Associate, focusing on intellectual property and business law. As a member of the firm’s Life Sciences team, Dr. Cox primarily represents public and private entities, including emerging and established biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and other life sciences companies, on general business matters involving entity formation, corporate governance, new product development, licensing, and intellectual property.

"The addition of Dr. Cox will broaden the scope of Miles & Stockbridge's Life Sciences team,” said John Frisch, chairman of Miles & Stockbridge. "He is able to bring a unique understanding of corporate law and speak both the science and law languages."

Before attending law school, Dr. Cox had almost twenty years of biomedical research experience in the areas of pharmacology, immunology, cell biology, and molecular biology. After receiving his Ph.D. in pharmacology, he obtained advanced training in immunology and molecular biology as a Biotechnology Training Program postdoctoral fellow in the Biological Response Modifiers Program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). He was promoted to Senior Staff Fellow at the NCI, and continued his biomedical research on macrophage immunobiology and cytokine gene expression and function. Dr. Cox was also an assistant professor of pharmacology and molecular and cell biology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine.

Dr. Cox has significant experience teaching medical and graduate students, and has trained and mentored M.S., Ph.D., and M.D. level professionals.
