Richard S. Gerber Joins Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP Columbus Office
The law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP (“BDB”), is pleased to welcome Richard S. Gerber, a Partner in the Columbus office. The addition of Mr. Gerber strengthens BDB’s business practice. He will devote his practice to providing general counsel services to small closely held businesses and client representation before the Internal Revenue Service and state and local tax authorities.

Mr. Gerber has significant experience providing legal services relative to business formations and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state regulatory compliance, employer-employee relationships and general day-to-day operations, business succession and estate planning, real estate, taxation, commercial and general corporate services. He also has expertise in motor sports team management and related sport law activities.

Mr. Gerber serves as the Chair of the City of Dublin Planning and Zoning Commission. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors for The Center for Balance Living in Worthington.

Mr. Gerber earned his LL.M. in Taxation (1988) and his J.D. (1984) from Capital University Law School. In addition, he earned his B.S. (1979) from The Ohio State University. He is a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of The Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations. Mr. Gerber is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio, United States Tax Court, United States Court of Appeals of the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio. Twenty-Seven Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione Attorneys Named “Illinois Super Lawyers” for 2007
Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to announce that 27 of its Chicago attorneys have been named “Illinois Super Lawyers” for 2007 in a survey conducted by Law & Politics magazine.

Additionally, Gary M. Ropski, President of Brinks, was named among the top 10 lawyers in Illinois across all practice areas for the second consecutive year. Meredith Martin Addy, Chair of Brinks’ Appellate Group, and Laura Beth Miller, Chair of the International Trade Commission Group, were listed among the top 50 female attorneys in Illinois. Bradley Arant Announces New Partners
Birmingham, AL. Bradley Arant Rose & White LLP is pleased to announce its newest partners.

Scott E. Adams is a partner in the firm's Birmingham office and a member of the Estate and Trust Planning and Tax Practice Groups. Mr. Adams’ practice primarily focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and estate and trust litigation. He has advised and assisted clients on various estate planning opportunities, including drafting wills and trusts designed to achieve significant tax savings. He has experience in advising clients regarding family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, which are designed to enable clients to manage family assets and achieve other estate planning goals. In addition to assisting clients with and drafting various estate planning documents, Mr. Adams has represented clients in estate and trust litigation matters, estate administration, return preparation and federal tax controversies. He received his B.S., summa cum laude, from Florida State University and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Robert J. Campbell is a partner in the firm's Birmingham office, where his practice focuses on multi-forum, class action, and complex commercial litigation matters. Mr. Campbell is a graduate of the University of South Florida (B.S.), the University of Texas at Austin (M.P.A., with distinction), and the Vanderbilt University School of Law (J.D.). He is licensed to practice in California and Alabama. Apart from work, he serves on the judiciary committee of the Business Council of Alabama and legislative advisory board for the Alabama chapter of the Association of Builders and Contractors.

Hope T. Cannon is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. She handles a variety of litigation matters ranging from products liability actions to banking and commercial litigation. During her time at Bradley Arant, she has appeared before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, as well as, the state appellate courts. She handles cases in all of the state and federal courts in Alabama. Ms. Cannon received her B.S., cum laude, in Accounting from the University of South Alabama and her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law. She is also an active member of the Birmingham Bar Association, where she has served on various committees, including the Bulletin Committee and Public Service Committee, and of the Young Lawyer's section of DRI, where she currently serves on the Steering Committee and co-chairs the Publications Committee.

Jeffrey D. Dyess is a partner in the firm's Birmingham office, where he primarily represents businesses and individuals as both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation matters. His practice also includes complex, multidistrict litigation, products liability defense and personal injury defense. In 2002, Mr. Dyess became admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and he is also a member of the firm's intellectual property team. Over the last several years, he has been both first and second chair in civil trials involving commercial litigation as well as real estate litigation and probate litigation. In addition to his trial work, Mr. Dyess has significant experience in pre-suit investigation of commercial and corporate matters, mediation and insurance coverage disputes. He is admitted to practice in all Federal District Courts in Alabama as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Dyess received his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, summa cum laude, from Auburn University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Cumberland School of Law.

Eric A. Frechtel is a partner in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where he is a member of the Construction and Procurement Practice Group. He represents general contractors, subcontractors, sureties, and owners, in both the prosecution and defense of claims on large public and private construction projects. He has significant litigation experience before both state and federal courts, including having recently tried a multi-million dollar claim involving the alleged wrongful default termination of a government lease as well as a substantial claim for delay and impacts arising from the construction of a cable-stay bridge. Mr. Frechtel’s experience also includes the prosecution of a general contractor’s claims and management of subcontractor “pass-through” claims on a large hotel construction and historical renovation project and the defense against claims involving complex applications of software and systems integration on a multi-billion dollar highway and tunnel project. His practice includes substantial hands-on work with project personnel, consultants and experts, both for contractors and owners, in preparing and defending delay and impact claims, and he has successfully mediated and negotiated complex settlements. He has also been successful in appellate work before both state courts and federal circuits. Mr. Frechtel received his B.A. from Colgate University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Andrew B. Johnson is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. His practice includes a wide variety of litigation matters including product liability, construction and real estate disputes and consumer fraud. Mr. Johnson regularly represents pharmaceutical companies in the defense of mass tort cases involving prescription medications and medical devices, and his product liability experience also includes the representation of manufacturers and dealers of construction equipment, tire manufacturers and soft-drink bottlers. His experience in the commercial area includes litigation on behalf of national banks and insurance companies. Mr. Johnson received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

S. Roderick Kanter is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and a member of the Public Finance and Corporate and Securities Practice Groups. His primary practice includes serving as bond counsel and underwriter's counsel in indebtedness financings. His representation of clients includes various authorities of the State of Alabama and various hospitals, industrial development boards, utility systems, municipalities, counties, improvement districts and tax increment districts. Mr. Kanter was also instrumental in the creation of the first municipal bond bank in the State of Alabama. Mr. Kanter received his B.S., summa cum laude, from Birmingham Southern College and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law where he was an Associate Editor for the Vanderbilt Law Review.

David E. Mixon is a partner in the firm’s Huntsville office and a member of the Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights Practice Group and the Emerging Business and Technology Team. He is a registered patent attorney with a background in electrical and computer engineering. His primary areas of practice include patent and trademark prosecution, licensing and client counseling on intellectual property issues. Mr. Mixon's clients include Fortune 500 companies as well as medium size businesses and startup ventures. He has advised and assisted clients in such wide ranging industries as information technology, computer hardware, satellite communications, health sciences, micro-electronics, environmental technology, telecommunications and automotive manufacturing. He has extensive experience with preparing and prosecuting patent applications on the cutting edge of such fields as computer software, computer hardware, electronics, control systems, manufacturing processes and mechanical devices. Mr. Mixon counsels clients on methods of protecting all of their intellectual property and he assists them in developing strategies to maximize the impact of those assets. He received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law.

David W. Owen is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office, where he is a member of the Construction and Procurement Practice Group. He represents contractors, subcontractors, engineers and owners in many aspects of construction law. He handles cases where claims range from a few thousand dollars to several hundred million dollars. Mr. Owen also drafts and negotiates contracts for owners, contractors, subcontractors and engineers. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he practiced as a geotechnical and construction materials consulting engineer for six years. Mr. Owen is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama and has served as a consultant on projects throughout the Southeast. Prior to and during law school, he owned and operated a technical drilling company that performed services on projects in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Mr. Owen received his B.S.C.E, cum laude, from the University of Alabama and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Robert E. Poundstone IV ("Bobby") is a partner in the firm’s Montgomery office and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. He represents clients in litigation matters pending in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Mr. Poundstone has experience in a wide variety of litigation practice areas. He has frequently represented a major tractor truck manufacturer in warranty, contract and fraud cases and currently represents a major automobile manufacturer in several litigation matters. He is also currently representing clients in multiple toxic tort cases. Mr. Poundstone has experience in other areas of litigation including, bad faith, premises liability, product liability, personal injury, employment, warranty and appellate matters. He received his B.S. in Business Administration (Management), cum laude, from Auburn University in 1995 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1999.

J. David Stewart III is a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and a member of the Governmental Affairs and Economic Development Practice Groups. He regularly represents clients before the executive and legislative branches in Washington, D.C. and Montgomery, Alabama. He also advises clients on federal and state campaign finance and ethics laws. As part of his governmental affairs representation, he has developed an expertise in representing non-profit entities, particularly municipalities and educational institutions, seeking federal and state appropriations and grants. As part of this representation, he also provides economic development advice to clients. His for-profit clients have ranged in size from privately-held startups to Fortune 500 companies. Gewin and Haston named to 2007 International Who's Who
Bradley Arant Rose & White llp partners Jimmy Gewin and Tripp Haston have been named to the 2007 The International Who’s Who of Product Liability Lawyers published by London-based Who’s Who Legal. Mr. Gewin has been selected for inclusion previously and this is Mr. Haston’s first year of inclusion. The select group includes roughly 300 attorneys worldwide of whom 200 practice in the United States.

Mr. Gewin is a partner in the Birmingham office and a member of the Litigation Practice Group. He concentrates his practice in general civil litigation in both the state and federal arena. A substantial portion of his practice centers around the representation of corporate defendants in the product and insurance fields, but also includes a variety of clients who are claimants in civil disputes relating to antitrust, construction, copyrights, pharmaceutical issues, and unfair competition. Mr. Gewin is also listed in The Best Lawyers in America in both the Business Litigation and Personal Injury Litigation categories and in Chambers USA as one of America's Leading Business Lawyers.
Mr. Haston is a partner in the Birmingham office and serves as Chair of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Practice Group. His current practice focuses on representing pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in mass tort litigation. Mr. Haston has had the privilege to represent a number of clients from these industries on statewide, nationwide and international levels in recent years. Pope, Berry-Tayman, Miller Join Baker & Daniels
James R. Pope, Lisa J. Berry-Tayman and Patrick M. Miller have joined Baker & Daniels LLP. Each practices in the law firm's Downtown Indianapolis office.

Pope is of counsel at Baker & Daniels after spending more than 33 years as in-house counsel for Duke Energy, a Fortune 500 company, and its predecessor companies, Cinergy and PSI Energy, Inc. At Baker & Daniels, he practices in business litigation, focusing primarily on utility law. He also counsels clients on regulatory issues, including matters before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.

Pope graduated magna cum laude from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington in 1973 after earning his bachelor's degree at Wabash College in 1970.

Berry-Tayman is an associate in business litigation, focusing her practice on assisting clients with electronic discovery and record management challenges. Before joining Baker & Daniels, she practiced in tort litigation with Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in Kansas City, Mo., and served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Missouri Attorney General's Office in Jefferson City.

Berry-Tayman earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Ball State University, graduating from the honors program in 1991. She graduated with distinction from Mississippi College School of Law in 1995.

Miller is an associate in Baker & Daniels' construction, environmental law and real property litigation practice. He represents clients in virtually all phases of the construction process. Previously, Miller practiced in construction law with Drewry, Simmons, Vornehm LLP in Indianapolis and Fraterrigo, Beranek, Feiereisel & Kasbohm in Chicago.

Miller graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2002 after earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1999. During law school, he served as a judicial intern for Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in the Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
