Prince co-authors Products Liability Law
David Prince, provides a comprehensive analysis of the many issues that may arise in products liability cases as well as practical guidance on the litigation process for the practitioner. The 800 page volume is a valuable source for lawyers and judges, carefully analyzing both case law and relevant statutes and exploring issues not yet resolved by the courts. The book analyzes the several causes of action commonly asserted in products liability cases, includes a detailed analysis of warranty claims, and discusses evidentiary issues that commonly arise in these cases. It was published by Thomson West in November 2006 and will be updated annually.

Three Lowis & Gellen Attorneys Named Illinois “Super Lawyers 2007”
Partners Pam Gellen, Gerald Haberkorn and Joan M. Kubalanza were recently announced to be among the top 5% of Illinois attorneys and are honored with the designation of “Super Lawyers 2007.” In independent research conducted by Law & Politics, 47,000 Illinois attorneys statewide were polled for their recommendations of colleagues in the law having outstanding skill as legal counselors and advocates.

Ms. Gellen has previously been named by Chicago Lawyer magazine as one of Chicago's top twenty tort defense lawyers and was first selected as an Illinois “Leading Lawyer” in 2005.

Mr. Haberkorn was a finalist in Fast Company magazine’s 2005 “Fast 50,” as one of the U.S.’s “high impact legal leaders” and was also one of Illinois’ “Leading Lawyers” in 2005.

Ms. Kubalanza is a former Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, and a senior litigator and appellate attorney in the commercial litigation group at Lowis & Gellen, LLP.

King & Spalding Advises GE Real Estate On Its $2.2 Billion Acquisition of Properties From Crow Holdings
King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, advised GE Real Estate on its $2.2 billion acquisition by merger of a portfolio of 147 assets from Crow Holdings’ third real estate fund, Crow Holdings Realty Partners III, L.P., and the associated acquisition by affiliates of Kimco Realty Corporation of 19 retail assets in the portfolio for approximately $920 million. The transaction closed January 12.

Ice Miller Partner Selected to Serve on International Trademark Association's Panel of Neutrals
Ice Miller LLP announced today that Jay Taylor has been selected to serve as a member of the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Panel of Neutrals. The panel is an innovative alternative dispute resolution (ADR) program that has been very successful in resolving trademark and unfair competition disputes without litigation.

Justice to speak at Founders Day
January 18, 2007 Hampton University welcomes John Charles Thomas to its 114th annual Founders Day ceremony, 11:30 a.m. Jan. 28 at Ogden Hall. The program pays tribute to the university's founder, Gen. Samuel Chapman Armstrong. HU President William R. Harvey will present several President Citizenship Awards to prestigious community leaders.

Thomas is a partner at Hunton & Williams, LLP in Richmond. He has served as a justice on the Supreme Court of Virginia for seven years and has authored more than 200 decisions.

Prior to the service, there will be a commemorative wreath-placing ceremony at Armstrong's gravesite at 9:30 a.m. in the Hampton University Cemetery.

O'Neill named to VLF's Fellows Class of 2007
Hunton & Williams LLP today announced John D. O’Neill Jr, the managing partner of its Richmond office, was inducted into the Virginia Law Foundation’s 2007 Class of Fellows.

Induction as a Fellow is a special honor conferred by the VLF Board on selected Virginia attorneys, law professors and retired members of the judiciary who are deemed to be outstanding in their profession and in their community. Total membership is limited to one percent of the active and associate membership of the Virginia State Bar. Current Fellows membership now numbers 341.

O’Neill, who also co-heads the firm’s public finance practice, joined Hunton & Williams in 1984 and concentrates his practice in public finance and municipal bond law; transportation infrastructure; and securities law and banking.

Hodgson Russ partner Michael B. Risman to join Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo board of directors
Michael B. Risman, a partner in Hodgson Russ’s Business Litigation and Municipal Law Practice Groups, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Buffalo is a non-profit umbrella organization that serves both the local and global Jewish communities. Its many organizations include youth and adult education programs, missions to U.S. cities and Israel, social and family services, and charity work.
