JPMorgan Chase as Financial Advisor in Proposed Merger of NYSE With Euronext
Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is advising JPMorgan Chase in its role as financial advisor to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in NYSE’s proposed merger with Euronext N.V. The formal proposal was filed with the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers) on Tuesday, January 9, 2007.

The Debevoise team is led out of the Paris office by partner Patrick Laporte and includes associate France Portmann. Debevoise & Plimpton LLP is a leading international law firm with offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, Paris, Frankfurt, Moscow, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Hagner Named to Lead Womble Carlyle's Real Estate Development Practice Group
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, today announced that John Hagner has been appointed as the Practice Group Leader of the firm's Real Estate Development Practice Group. Hagner is a member in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

For more than thirty years, Hagner has represented all types of institutional and entrepreneurial clients in all aspects of business and commercial transactions and business planning, including acquisitions and dispositions of all types of real and personal property and businesses, real estate and other asset-based financing, credit line financing, leasing of real and personal property, portfolio allocation and management by life insurance companies, land development, commercial building development, real property management, workouts, loan enforcement, and foreclosures.

"I am pleased that John has taken over as leader of the firm's Real Estate Development Group," said Bobby Hinson, who served for five years as the group's leader. "John’s leadership abilities and his wide range of experience in all areas of real estate will make him a terrific leader for our group and for the clients we serve." Hinson continues his real estate transactional practice as a member in the firm’s Charlotte, N.C., office.

Hagner is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center, where he co-teaches a course on finance of real and personal property. He is a trustee of the Federal City Council, a highly prestigious invitation-only nonpartisan civic group dedicated to the improvement of the Nation’s Capital. At Womble Carlyle, Hagner is a member of the Pro Bono Committee, the Strategic Technology & Services Committee, and the Strategic Planning Committee, and a former member of the Executive Committee and Firm Management Committee.

WolfBlock Partner Receives Dennis H. Replansky Award
WolfBlock partner Mark K. Kessler was selected as the recipient of the 2007 Philadelphia Bar Association Business Law Section's Dennis H. Replansky Award. The award was given at the Section's annual reception on January 16 at Pyramid Club in Philadelphia.

Kessler, who has been named by the National Law Journal as a leading figure in the national securities bar, is a partner in WolfBlock's Corporate/Securities Practice Group. He is a noted corporate and securities lawyer whose areas of practice include corporate and securities counseling, with an emphasis on mergers, acquisitions and public and private financing.

The Replansky Award is given annually to a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Business Law Section who demonstrates superior legal talent in the area of business law; has provided unique contributions to and attained significant achievements within the business law community in the Philadelphia area; has a reputation for mentoring young attorneys; has significantly participated in and contributed to civic and charitable causes in the community; and has uniform recognition in the legal community for honesty, integrity and professionalism. The award is named in honor of Dennis H. Replansky, a former chair of the Association's Business Law Section, in recognition of his career as a lawyer and his contributions to legal, civic, religious and other charitable causes.

Kessler is a member of the American Law Institute and the Philadelphia and American Bar Associations. He serves on the American Bar Association's Committee on Regulation of Securities and has served as chairman of the Philadelphia Bar Association's Section of Business Law and the Committee on Securities Regulation. He is a former national president and board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, and in 2005, he received the Charles G. Berwind Lifetime Achievement Award from that organization. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Arcadia University. Mr. Kessler has served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Albert Einstein Medical Center, the Federation of Jewish Agencies of Greater Philadelphia and St. Peter's School and as president of Jewish Family Service of Philadelphia.

WilmerHale Successfully Represents Mayne in its Acquisition by Hospira
WilmerHale successfully represented its client Mayne Pharma Ltd. before the US Federal Trade Commission to secure antitrust clearance of Mayne’s acquisition by Hospira, Inc. The transaction will make Hospira one of the world’s leading generic injectable drug manufacturers. The January 18, 2007 clearance decision required no divestitures material to the transaction and came only two and a half months after the Commission initiated a Second Request investigation.

The WilmerHale antitrust lawyers working on the transaction included William Kolasky, Jeff Ayer, Andrew Ewalt, Laura Hill, Alexander Krulic, Elizabeth de Luca, Deirdre Waters, and Dan Matheson.

SCHIFF HARDIN LLP WELCOMES SUMA SANAKKAYALA AS AN ASSOCIATE IN THE NEW YORK CITY OFFICE
Schiff Hardin LLP has added Suma Sanakkayala as an associate in the Real Estate Group of the New York City office. She joins the firm from Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP in New York City, where she was a litigation associate.

Ms. Sanakkayala focuses her practice in real estate transactions and leasing. Her real estate practice is complemented by her prior concentration in a wide range of civil and criminal litigation. She contributed to "Assigning Mortgages: Practice Avoids Recording Tax in Refinancing Debt," New York Law Journal (March 16, 2005).

During law school, Ms. Sanakkayala gained experience during a series of internships with the Office of the New York State Attorney General and the U.S. Attorneys Offices for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Sanakkayala worked for a documentary production company and an advertising agency.

She received her undergraduate degree (B.A., Economics and Art History, 1998) from Williams College and her law degree (J.D., 2004) from Columbia University Law School, where she was Articles Editor, Columbia Journal of Gender and Law. Ms. Sanakkayala is admitted to practice in New York as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.

Diane Simons-Burnside Joins Roetzel & Andress as an Associate in the Naples Office
