Noble Street Charter High School Selected as a “Model” for Success
Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP client Noble Street Charter High School has been heralded by U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings as a proven example of how to help struggling, low-income students achieve higher standards.

The school was chosen to launch a nationwide tour promoting Building on Results: A Blueprint for Strengthening the No Child Left Behind Act. The Secretary's visit comes after President Bush called for a reauthorization of the law. She toured a physics lab and spoke at a school assembly where she took questions from students.

"In order to help struggling students, we must replicate proven, innovative strategies, and Noble Street is a model for others to follow," the Secretary said in her remarks at the school assembly where she was joined by Arne Duncan, CEO of Chicago Public Schools, Rufus Williams, president of the Chicago Board of Education and Michael Milkie, founder and superintendent of Noble Street Charter High School.

Noble Street High School is the first of three charter high schools established by the Noble Network of Charter Schools, Chicago's most successful charter school organization. Led by Bell, Boyd attorney Robert J. Best, Bell, Boyd's team represents the school system in real estate, zoning, construction, finance, tax and corporate matters.

Noble Street is one of the highest-performing schools in Chicago, and more than eighty percent of its students go on to attend college. In addition to Noble Street, the Noble Network opened two additional charter schools in August 2006. Four more are in development, with plans to open two this year and two in 2008.
