Katherine K. Cheng, 30. Katherine Cheng represents insurance companies, self-insured entities and uninsured employers in the defense and litigation of worker’s compensation matters. Ms. Cheng has prior experience practicing in the areas of immigration and naturalization law, trademark and copyright applications, as well as criminal procedure. She received her J.D. in 2002 from LoyolaLawSchool, where she served as Note and Comment Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. During law school, Ms. Cheng was an extern for The Honorable Ronald S.W. Lew, of the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and in the Civil Pretrial Division at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. She is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Ms. Cheng speaks conversational Chinese.

Scott Pomerantz, 35. Scott Pomerantz focuses his practice in commercial litigation and professional liability defense. Mr. Pomerantz has extensive experience in defending legal malpractice matters. He also handles commercial litigation in state and federal court, including matters involving breach of contract, intellectual property, partnership dissolution and Section 17200 matters. Jeffery R. Lawley, 31. Jeffery Lawley focuses his practice in complex litigation at the state and federal levels, with particular emphasis in products liability, medical malpractice defense and personal injury defense. Edward T. Sylvester, 39. Edward T. Sylvester focuses his practice in the area of commercial insurance coverage. Mr. Sylvester has experience analyzing commercial general liability, architects and engineers, directors and officers, errors and omissions, commercial auto, personal auto and excess/umbrella insurance policies. He is also a skilled appellate attorney, having prepared appellate briefs for and successfully argued before numerous courts of appeals. Scott M. Gilbert, 27. Scott Gilbert advises management-side clients in a wide array of labor and employment law matters. Blake Stone, 36. Blake Stone represents clients in commercial litigation, construction, environmental and municipal liability litigation, as well as in administrative and public law matters. Mr. Stone has tried more than 175 cases to verdict or finding. Previously he was a Major in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, stationed in Baghdad, Iraq, where he served as Officer-in-Charge of the Coalition Forces’ Combined Review & Release Board, the legal offices responsible for providing review hearings to security detainees held in U.S. custody in Iraq. In that capacity, Mr. Stone coordinated high-profile cases with senior representatives of several Iraqi Ministries. Throughout his active military service, he provided strategic and legal counsel to senior military commanders and to numerous generals and civilian leaders within the Department of Defense. Mr. Stone has received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal from the Department of Defense; the Meritorious Service Medal from the Department of the Army; and the Army Commendation Medal. He has been a frequent lecturer on topics of organizational leadership, government ethics and public international law. As a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, Mr. Stone remains a Major in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He is also a mentor for returning combat veterans returning to civilian life. Richard P. Girzadas, 41. Richard Girzadas focuses his litigation practice in the areas of professional liability defense, primarily on behalf of lawyers and medical professionals, and personal injury defense on behalf of restaurants and other retail operations. Mr. Girzadas’ vast litigation experience also includes handling insurance coverage matters and transportation and maritime litigation on behalf of casinos, marine transporters and cargo owners. New partner for corporate group in Paris
David Revcolevschi is to join international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a corporate partner in the firm's Paris office.

David was previously European counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Paris, which he joined in 1999. He specialises in international capital markets transactions and public M&A with particular emphasis on transactions involving French and global offerings of equity and equity-linked securities.

He represents both issuers and underwriters in connection with international financing transactions, including IPOs, privatisations, international offerings of equity securities and equity-linked securities, and general corporate and securities law matters. David has recently advised on fifteen initial public offerings on the Paris stock exchange and most of the privatizations that took place in France since 1999.

'David will play an important role in providing an outstanding service to our French and international corporate clients, and will help us build on our success and achievements in the global M&A and European capital markets.'

The firm was also ranked number one European legal advisor in Bloomberg's 2006 M&A league tables, and was ranked number two in Bloomberg's 2006 league tables for global equity IPO issuer advisers, advising on 26 deals worth $14.6bn, and number two for global equity IPO manager advisers, advising on 24 deals worth $16.8 bn.

David will strengthen the corporate group of Freshfields' Paris office, becoming the seventh partner in a team of 40 lawyers, led by corporate partner Antoine Vignial.

Kathy Billings Massing Elected to the Ophelia Project Community Board
Kathy Billings Massing, an associate with the law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker, was elected to the Ophelia Project Community Board. The Ophelia Project - Tampa Bay is dedicated to inspiring an emotionally, physically, and socially safe culture for all girls by promoting the best practices in gender-specific youth programs, providing community education and professional training, and coordinating community resources. Ms. Massing had previously served as a volunteer mentor with the organization.

CRAVATH REPRESENTS IBM IN JOINT VENTURE WITH RICOH
Cravath represented IBM in the formation of a joint venture company with Ricoh Co., Ltd., based on IBM’s Printing Systems Division and called the InfoPrint Solutions Company. Ricoh initially will acquire 51 percent of the joint venture and will progressively acquire the remaining 49 percent over the next three years as the joint venture evolves into a fully owned subsidiary of Ricoh. The lawyers involved in this matter are partners George F. Schoen and Scott A. Barshay and associates Michael E. Healy and D. Scott Bennett on corporate matters, and associate Jennifer S. Conway on executive compensation and benefits matters. The deal is valued at $725 million and was announced on January 25, 2007.

Lesley Hogan joins Butzel Long's Boca Raton office
Butzel Long attorneys Arthur Dudley II and Marcus A. Williams have been named in the 2006 inaugural edition of Who's Who in Black Detroit®. The book includes photos, historical and biographical data on local leaders in the metropolitan Detroit area. The book is produced by Who's Who Publishing Company, the nation’s largest annual directory publisher targeting the African-American market.

Arthur Dudley II – He has practiced law for more than 25 years and has extensive experience in nearly all aspects of corporate law. He has had primary responsibility for mergers and acquisitions, securities matters (including public offerings), general counsel work, counseling minority business enterprises, and a variety of other matters, including executive compensation, corporate contracts, joint ventures and strategic alliances and technology licensing.

Mr. Dudley provides ongoing counseling to public companies involving issues concerning corporate governance, compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, transactions in restricted securities, transactions governed by Section 16(b) of the 1934 Act and matters related to corporate disclosure. His securities law experience with public companies has also included a variety of other transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions.

He has represented emerging high tech corporations in venture capital private placements and as general counsel, and has had principal responsibility for or participated in international acquisitions and divestitures and international corporate restructurings and reorganizations. He has many years of experience in designing and drafting equity based compensation plans as well as individual executive employment agreements. He is experienced with change of control and corporate governance issues, as well as "golden parachute" issues.

In 2006, Mr. Dudley was honored by the Michigan Minority Business Development Council and received the Council’s 7 GEMS Award. He also serves as a member of the Council’s Board of Directors. Last year, Mr. Dudley was honored by Black United Fund (BUF) for 20 years of volunteerism and was elected as Vice President of the Legal Aid and Defender Association, where he also serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Dudley has been an Adjunct Professor in the College of Business and Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in business law.

Mr. Dudley received a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Yale University in 1977. Prior to law school, Mr. Dudley attended Harvard College as National Merit Scholar, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1973.

Marcus A. Williams – His practice includes corporate transactions, corporate finance, securities and business law. He is actively involved in all phases of negotiating, drafting and closing complex corporate transactions, domestic and international, for public and privately held companies, including mergers and acquisitions, equity investments in growth companies, joint ventures and strategic alliances. He also advises securities issuers and broker-dealers with respect to compliance matters under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 Act and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Prior to joining Butzel Long, Mr. Williams was a tax consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he specialized in tax planning and compliance for business combinations and divestitures. His tax practice focused primarily on transactions involving wealthy individuals, closely held corporations and flow-through entities. He has represented taxpayers in audits and other disputes before the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Williams has considerable experience in real estate transactions and valuation, particularly in eminent domain proceedings. He has represented the Detroit/Wayne County Stadium Authority, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, and the Detroit Economic Development Corporation in various real estate acquisition and condemnation matters.

Mr. Williams is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D. 1996) and the University of Michigan Business School (B.B.A. 1993), where he specialized in Corporate Finance. He is currently a director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Think Detroit Police Athletic League, a non-profit corporation which is widely recognized for its management excellence. He serves on the Board of Advisors of the Boll Family YMCA in Downtown Detroit, where he serves on the Leadership Development Committee and the Strong Kids Campaign Committee. He is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Paula L. Tutman Children's Toothfairy Foundation, a non-profit corporation which was recently organized to provide dental care funding to under served children in the Metropolitan Detroit Area. He has served on the Executive Board of the National Association of Black Accountants, Detroit Chapter, as Co-Chairperson of the Student Affairs Committee, and is a member of the University of Michigan Business School Club of Detroit.
