Joy Long Named President of Chicago Chapter of Legal Marketing Association for 2007; Sydney Iglitzen Named President-Elect
Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States, is pleased to announce that Joy Long, Director of Business Development, has been elected president of the Chicago chapter of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA Chicago) for 2007. In addition, Sydney Iglitzen, Public Relations Manager at Brinks, has been named president-elect of LMA Chicago.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of our professional staff and applaud the time, energy and effort they give back to their communities,” said Gary M. Ropski, president of Brinks. “Brinks encourages and supports the participation of its employees in all worthwhile professional, civic and charitable endeavors.”

Ms. Long, a member of the Legal Marketing Association since 1996, has worked in support of the legal marketing industry's only professional, educational and advocacy organization. She has been elected to terms as the chapter's secretary, treasurer and president-elect and served as chapter president in 2005. Her term of office as chapter president begins January 2007 and runs for one year. Ms. Long joined Brinks in 2003.

Ms. Iglitzen has been a member of LMA since 1997 and has been on the chapter’s Board of Directors for several years. She has served as the chapter’s program chair for more than three years, implementing monthly and special programming for the organization’s Chicago chapter and Indianapolis program series. She has also served as the chairperson for both the public relations and membership committees. She will assume the president’s chair in January 2008. Ms. Iglitzen joined Brinks in 2005.

Also elected to office for 2007 are: Donna L.G. Shaft, Principal, DLG Shaft Consulting, Secretary; Judith Weingarz, Marketing Manager, The Interlex Group, Treasurer; Megan McKeon, Marketing Director, McDonnell Boehnen Hulbert & Berghoff, Treasurer-Elect; Yewande Dawodu, Marketing Coordinator, Masuda Funai Eifert & Mitchell, Jeffrey Hild, Marketing Director, Johnson & Bell Ltd. and Megan Wilroy, Marketing Project Manager, Foley & Lardner, all Board Members-at-Large.

For more than 20 years, LMA, a not-for-profit organization, has been dedicated to maintaining the professional and ethical standards of the women and men involved in marketing, business development and communications within the legal profession and to providing its members with advocacy initiatives, educational programs and professional opportunities covering a wide range of issues.

Pat Callahan Reappointed to Indianapolis Airport Authority
H. Patrick Callahan, a partner at Baker & Daniels LLP, has been reappointed by Mayor Bart Peterson for a third four-year term as a member of the Indianapolis Airport Authority.

Callahan, who was first appointed to the airport's board of directors in 1999, has served as vice president since 2000. The airport authority is responsible for owning, developing and operating airport facilities, including Indianapolis International, Metropolitan, Mount Comfort and Eagle Creek airports; Gordon Graham Field; and the Downtown Heliport.

Callahan is active in a number of business and community organizations, including the Indy Partnership, Techpoint and Indiana University School of Informatics Dean's Advisory Committee. In his practice, Callahan provides legal and business counsel to entrepreneurs, corporations and other business and governmental entities.

Andrea E. Bates and E. Michelle Tyde Join Carlton Fields in the Atlanta Office
The law firm of Carlton Fields is pleased to announce that attorneys Andrea E. Bates and E. Michelle Tyde have joined the Firm’s Atlanta office in the Intellectual Property and Technology Practice Group.

Prior to joining Carlton Fields, Bates and Tyde practiced with Greenberg Traurig in Atlanta and specialize in the monetization and commercialization of intellectual property.

Bates has extensive experience in the development, structure, prosecution, licensing, defense, utilization, and monetization of intellectual property (i.e., patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets). She has structured and negotiated a wide range of complex deals involving business method patents, design patents, financial transactions, debit and gift cards, publications, automated work flow for corporate actions and security transactions, websites, telecommunications, outsourcing, data protection, electronic security and co-branding. Bates received her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School Chicago in 1997 and her B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1994.

Tyde has extensive experience in acquiring, protecting and leveraging intellectual property assets. She has worked with Fortune 500 companies in structuring and negotiating a diverse range of complex deals involving electronic entertainment, publishing, telecommunications, outsourcing, data protection, electronic financial transactions, and biotechnology. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 1996 and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Mercer University in 1993.

Recent Attorney Promotions Noted in Pennsylvania Publications
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's 2007 attorney promotions have been noted in the January 22, 2007, edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the January 23, 2007, edition of The Legal Intelligencer,the January 26, 2007, edition of the Pittsburgh Business Times, and the January 28, 2007, edition of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

The new shareholders from the Pittsburgh office are David E. Gould, David A. Grubman, Brian S. Novosel and Terry A. Shulsky. Those promoted to counsel were Pamela E. Hepp and Matthew H. Meade.

The new shareholders from the Philadelphia office are Thomas P. Manning and Brian J. McCormick. Lawrence M. Farnese, Jr. was promoted to counsel.

Dettelbach Addresses Case Western Reserve Law Review Symposium
"partner Steve Dettelbach was invited to be a speaker at the Case Western Reserve Law Review’s Annual Symposium on January 26.

The topic of the symposium related to recent developments in criminal law, specifically with respect to the landmark Supreme Court decision in Brady v. Maryland. Dettelbach’s presentation related to the application of Brady doctrine to the use and misuse of ""jail house snitches.""

Other presenters at the symposium were Barry Scheck, founder of the Innocence Project and Professor Paul Gianelli, who led the ABA’s recent task force on criminal justice reform."

Garvey Schubert Barer Adds Attorney to Corporate Finance & Securities Group
Garvey Schubert Barer is pleased to announce that Peter B. Cancelmo has joined the firm's Seattle office as an Associate in the Corporate Finance & Securities group. Most recently, Mr. Cancelmo held associate positions at Boston and New York firms, where he represented clients in a broad array of corporate and transactional matters including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, securities regulation and compliance, and joint venture formation. Kimberly Maxson-Rushton to Head Las Vegas Office
Cooper Levenson is announcing the law firm’s expansion into Nevada and is pleased to introduce the addition of a key player. Kimberly Maxson-Rushton will be the lead attorney for the firm’s new office in Las Vegas. Maxson-Rushton is well known in Southern Nevada coming to the firm from her position serving as Chair of Nevada’s Transportation Services Authority. The local Nevadan brings impressive experience to the position having served as Counsel to the Nevada Gaming Commission and State Gaming Control Board while Deputy Attorney General-Gaming Division from 1998 – 2000. Maxson-Rushton also served as Regional Chief Deputy Attorney in the Las Vegas Office and in the Clark County District Attorney’s Office as a Lobbying and Legislative Assistant and Prosecutor in the Criminal Division.
