TEN MAUPIN TAYLOR ATTORNEYS SELECTED AS SUPER LAWYERS-North Carolina Super Lawyers recognize ten Maupin Taylor attorneys
The 2007 edition of North Carolina Super Lawyers names ten Maupin Taylor attorneys as some of the best in their field.

This year’s list of Maupin Taylor’s Super Lawyers is comprised of Holmes Harden, bankruptcy; Keith Kapp, business litigation; John Mabe, construction/surety; Sam Byassee*, intellectual property; Frank Ward, labor and employment; John Williamson, medical malpractice and defense; Amos Dawson, environmental; Charles B. Neely, tax; Royce D. Powell, business/corporate; David R. Dorton, real estate transactions. This list illustrates the firm’s diverse practice and depth of experience and expertise in North Carolina.

David R. Dorton has also been included in the top 100 Lawyers, which lists those attorneys who received the highest point totals in the 2007 North Carolina Super Lawyers balloting, research and blue ribbon review process.

This recognition for these attorneys of North Carolina's oldest law firm comes on the heels of Maupin Taylor announcing their pending merger with Virginia firm Williams Mullen. As of March 1, 2007, the new firm named Williams Mullen Maupin Taylor will be one of the largest law firms in the southeast holding some of the highest percentage of attorneys rated in legal peer review services such as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, etc.

North Carolina Super Lawyers is a list of the state’s top five percent of attorneys in private practice, in-house counsel, prosecutors and public service lawyers. Published annually by Law and Politics, the list is based on nominations and independent research provided by licensed attorneys throughout the state. An estimated 130,000 people in North Carolina will receive this year’s edition.

LAMB McERLANE NAMES DANIEL BUSH PARTNER
— Lamb McErlane, PC, a full-service law firm, announced today that attorney Daniel Bush has been named a partner in the firm.
A former prosecutor for Chester County who now serves as a defense attorney in the Litigation Department at Lamb McErlane, Mr. Bush offers clients experience from both sides of the criminal justice system. With a niche practice in DUI defense, Mr. Bush has also successfully defended clients against criminal charges in cases of rape, aggravated assault, white collar crime, drug charges and grand jury defense; in Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Berks and Lancaster counties. Mr. Bush also has litigation experience in reconciling bad business deals and contract disputes.
Through his practice, Mr. Bush has developed significant knowledge of the lifestyle consequences of facing criminal charges and has amassed trial experience in prosecuting and defending all levels of crimes. As a result, he has expanded his practice to counsel defendants and their families on managing legal problems within the context of a client’s life.
A graduate of the Widener University School of Law, Mr. Bush also holds a certificate in Estate Planning from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law.

Greenberg Traurig Attorney Promoted to Of Counsel
The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, the nation’s seventh largest law firm, is pleased to announce that Robert A. Mandel has been promoted to Of Counsel.

Mandel is a member of the firm's National Litigation Practice and National Appellate Practice. He has more than 14 years of experience litigating commercial cases in New York, Arizona and other jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Mandel has represented clients in numerous industries, including commodities trading, construction, technology, luxury goods and major league sports. He also focuses his practice on appellate advocacy and has played a role in securing favorable verdicts for clients in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as well as the New York and Arizona intermediate appellate courts.

In addition to his appellate and litigation practice, Mandel is committed to serving the community. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Crisis Nursery and the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix.

Mandel earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He currently resides in the city of Scottsdale.

Mintz Levin Attorney Faith Charles Named to BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Second Straight Year
Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. today announced that for the second straight year Faith L. Charles, an attorney in the firm's New York office, has been named to the BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms.

The BTI Client Service All-Star Team for Law Firms 2007 honors a select group of 113 attorneys from law firms across the nation who were singled out by Fortune 1000 corporate counsel as lawyers who deliver exceptional client service. BTI's research anonymously evaluates how well attorneys and law firms are meeting clients' needs, expectations and spending guidelines. Ms. Charles was nominated for providing superior client service.

Ms. Charles is a Member of the firm's Business & Finance practice, where she focuses on corporate, commercial and securities matters, including strategic transactions and corporate structuring. She assists public and private companies, both start-ups and industry leaders, and investment bankers in a wide range of matters.

A significant portion of Ms. Charles' practice involves handling all aspects of public offerings and private placements, representing issuers, underwriters and placement agents. She also has experience representing sellers and purchasers in asset, stock and merger transactions and assisting clients with the negotiation and structuring of joint ventures, strategic alliances and licensing agreements.

Ms. Charles received her B.A., cum laude, from Barnard College (1983) and her J.D. from George Washington University Law Center (1986).

Chérie Kiser and Frank Lloyd to Present at PLI's Cable Television Law 2007: Competition In Video, Internet & Telephony
Mintz Levin attorneys Chérie Kiser and Frank Lloyd will present at the Practising Law Institute's upcoming program, Cable Television Law 2007: Competition in Video, Internet & Telephony. The program will be held January 29, 2007 at the PLI New York Center, New York, NY and again at the PLI California Center in San Francisco, CA on March 5 -6, 2007. Frank will present the Program Overview, Increasing Competition to Cable Incumbents and Future of Cable Video, Voice and Data Regulation. Chérie will present Issues for Cable-Provided Wireline and Wireless Telecommunications Services.

Chérie is the Managing Member for the Washington, DC office, a member of the Policy Committee, Chair of the Diversity Committee, and Chair of the Communications Section for the firm. King & Spalding Announces 2007 Diversity Fellowship Scholars
King & Spalding, a leading international law firm, announced today the inaugural recipients of the annual King & Spalding Diversity Fellowship Program. The 2007 King & Spalding Diversity Fellows are Tiffany Burns (Harvard Law School), Brittany Hamelers (University of Chicago Law School) and Preetma Singh (Vanderbilt Law School).

King & Spalding launched a diversity fellowship program last fall as part of the firm’s ongoing effort to increase ethnic and cultural diversity in the firm and the legal profession. Second-year law students in good standing at an American Bar Association-accredited law school who show promise of contributing meaningfully to the diversity of the legal community were invited to apply.

King & Spalding received approximately 150 applications from students at 43 law schools across the country. Fellows were selected after being interviewed by partners and associates of the firm.

Each recipient receives a $10,000 stipend and a position this summer with one of King & Spalding’s U.S. offices. Ms. Burns, Ms. Hamelers and Ms. Singh will be summer associates in the firm’s Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and New York offices, respectively. “We congratulate Tiffany, Brittany and Preetma on their hard work and dedication,” said Kevin R.
