Four ZEK Attorneys Honored as “Super Lawyers”
Four ZEK attorneys have been voted Manhattan “Super Lawyers” by Law and Politics magazine in an independent survey of more than 59,000 lawyers who were asked to submit nominations of attorneys they have observed in action.

ZEK attorneys honored are: Mark N. Zeichner, Stuart A. Krause, Michael S. Davis and Jerome S. Solomon. Selections are made in more than 55 categories with only five percent of Manhattan lawyers finally selected by a “blue ribbon” panel.

David Chenkin and Barry Glickman Conduct Seminar Addressing Internal Communications Within Financial Institutions
David B. Chenkin and Barry J. Glickman, ZEK litigation partners, conducted a seminar which examined how financial institutions could minimize the risk of litigation arising out of communications between customers, associates and counsel at the Risk and Regulatory 2006 Conference in New York City sponsored by the International Financial Services Association. The session discussed managers’ obligations to be sensitive to the need for the involvement of legal counsel in business-related issues as well as when financial institutions should consider invoking the attorney-client privilege. Chenkin and Glickman also addressed the increasingly greater duty for institutions to be vigilant in maintaining record retention polices for e-mails and other forms of electronic data.

Michael Davis on Panel Discussing Asbestos Arbitration
Michael A. Davis, a ZEK partner, recently participated in a panel discussion entitled: “Coming to Terms: The Art of Negotiation in Asbestos Insurance Cases” at Mealey’s Asbestos Insurance Conference in Boston. The conference focused on emerging trends in asbestos insurance litigation. Davis’s practice includes insurance and insurance-related arbitration. He has written and lectured extensively on arbitration and insurance topics.

Yoav M. Griver and Anthony I. Giacobbe, Jr. to teach Sports Law at NYU`
ZEK Partner, Yoav M. Griver, and Of Counsel, Anthony I Giacobbe, Jr., are Adjunct Professors at New York University. Together, they are teaching Sports Law. The course is part of the Sports Studies core curriculum at NYU’s Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports Management.

David Chenkin on Anti-Money Laundering Panel
David B, Chenkin, a ZEK partner, appeared on a panel on “Working with Outside Counsel/Auditors or Other Consultants on AML Troubles” at a conference in Washington, DC, sponsored jointly by the American Bar Association and the American Bankers Association. The session concentrated on when an institution should take action and hire outside counsel, the selection process, Congressional involvement and the efficacy of third-party review of preventive activities. Chenkin is an expert on anti-money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act compliance issues and is involved with regulatory efforts on several governmental levels.

Tracee Davis Appears on Two Panel
Tracee E. Davis, a senior associate at Zeichner Ellman & Krause LLP, appeared on two legal panels recently.

She was a panelist on the program “How to Become a Judge” sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York to inform lawyers about the paths, both elective and appointive, to becoming a judge in New York City. Tracee discussed the merit-based screening and selection process for reviewing applications and identifying qualified candidates.

She also moderated a panel for commercial judges on abusive discovery practices as part of the annual seminar program for commercial division judges organized by the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section of the New York State Bar Association. Tracee, who is Secretary of the Section, was the program co-chair.

Prior to joining ZEK, Tracee served for five years as the Principal Court Attorney to Justice Charles E. Ramos of the New York State Supreme Court Commercial Division in Manhattan. She was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School.
