Jeralyn L. Lawrence to Speak About New Child Support Guidelines
Jeralyn L. Lawrence, a member of the Somerville law firm of Norris McLaughlin & Marcus, P.A., will participate as a panelist at a seminar sponsored by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education on Saturday, February 10, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton at Woodbridge Place in Iselin. The seminar, entitled “The New Child Support Guidelines,” will cover changes to the guidelines which became effective on September 1, 2006. Discussion will include an overview of the new guidelines, the basis for the changes, and the impact on high, moderate and low wage earners, alimony agreements, current child support agreements, and post-judgment applications.

A resident of Watchung, Lawrence devotes her practice to the litigation and mediation of matrimonial and family law matters, including custody, parenting time, divorce and adoption.

Lawrence has been qualified for certification as a Matrimonial Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Attorney Certification, and is a Family/Divorce Mediator. She is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Chair of the New Jersey Matrimonial Young Lawyers Committee of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. She is also a member of the Somerset County (Chair, Family Law Committee) and Essex County Bar Associations, the New Jersey Supreme Court Office of Attorney Ethics, District XIII Attorney Ethics Committee, and an attorney volunteer at the Somerset County Resource Center for Women and Their Families. Lawrence has also been selected by her peers as one of 10 Attorneys Under 40 in Family Law.

Lawrence received her J.D. from Seton Hall Law School, summa cum laude. At Seton Hall, she was awarded the New Jersey Chapter of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyer’s Award, and served as Student Director of the Seton Hall University School of Law, Family Law Clinic. After law school, Lawrence served a one-year clerkship with the Honorable Herbert S. Glickman, Essex County, Chancery Division, Family Part.

Milbank Closes Financing of 80 MW Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm Project
Financing for the construction of the 80 MW Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm project in Pennsylvania has closed, it was announced today. Continuing its leadership momentum in renewable energy financings, the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP represented the lenders for the project: Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd. and HSH Nordbank AG. Allegheny Ridge Wind Farm, LLC a special purpose project entity, entered into several long-term wind energy supply agreements with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp., an Ohio corporation, for the sale of electricity to be generated at the project. Once completed, the project, encompassing parts of Blair and Cambria Counties, will be the largest wind farm in Pennsylvania and the largest in the entire mid-Atlantic region.

Edwin F. Feo, co-chair of Milbank’s Global Project Finance Group, who spearheaded the project said, “This is one of several projects throughout the country demonstrating how the manufacture of alternative energy may stimulate the local economy while maximizing the supply of wind power.” The planned first phase of the project will have 40 turbines rated at 2 MW each located on the Allegheny Ridge with an elevation higher than 2,600 feet. Associate Laurae Rossi worked with Mr. Feo on the financing.

Milbank Closes Financing of 301 MW Cedar Creek and Wind Project
Financing for the construction of the 301 MW Cedar Creek Wind Farm Project in Weld County, Colorado has closed, it was announced today. The international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP represented the lenders: Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd., Bayerische Landesbank and HSH Nordbank AG. Cedar Creek Wind Energy LLC, a special purpose project entity, entered into a long-term wind energy supply agreement with Public Service Company of Colorado for the sale of electricity to be generated by the project. Once completed, the farm will have 274 turbines and generate approximately 301 MW of power - enough to provide electricity to 120,000 homes. The project will take advantage of the energy potential in the 11th windiest state in the country.

Edwin F. Feo, co-chair of Milbank’s Global Project Finance Group, who spearheaded the project said, “This project is an example of how the manufacture of alternative energy may reinvigorate the local economy while maximizing the supply of wind power.” The Cedar Creek project along with another operational wind farm in northern Colorado, is anticipated to attract wind energy-related manufacturers, such as companies which manufacture turbines. Associate Laurae Rossi worked with Mr. Feo on the transaction.

Claude Anello Selected As “Rising Star” In Texas
Law & Politics and the publishers of Texas Monthly recently announced the Texas Rising Stars for 2007. One of McGlinchey Stafford’s Houston attorneys was designated as a top up-and-coming lawyer in the state: Claude Anello. His name will be published in the April 2007 issue of Texas Super Lawyers, Rising Stars Edition.

Tim Bomhoff Named 'Of Counsel' with McAfee & Taft
Timothy J. Bomhoff, an attorney with 19 years of experience representing clients in arbitration matters and before state and federal courts and regulatory and administrative agencies, has been named ‘of counsel’ with the law firm of McAfee & Taft.

Bomhoff’s litigation and counseling practice encompasses of a wide range of civil litigation involving complex business cases, labor and employment, securities arbitrations, products liability, mass tort (including asbestos defense), and oil and gas and contract disputes. A significant portion of his practice is also devoted to counseling employers on matters related to the employer-employee relationship, including discipline, terminations, policies and procedures, drug and alcohol testing, employment contracts, arbitration provisions and enforcement of trade secret and confidential provisions, and training.

Bomhoff earned a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1984 and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He began his private practice career in 1988 and most recently was a director and shareholder with another Oklahoma City-based law firm.

In addition to being named to the 2006 inaugural issue of Oklahoma Super Lawyers, Bomhoff is a Master of the Bench of the Robert J. Turner American Inn of Court. He also serves on the board of directors of the Oklahoma County Bar Association and is a member of the Oklahoma, American, and Federal Bar Associations.

Pittsburgh Partners Obtain Pair of Defense Verdicts
David J. Rosenberg, a partner in the Firm's Pittsburgh office, obtained a defense verdict on behalf of homeowners in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania on January 17, 2007. The plaintiff was cat-sitting for the defendants when they were out of town. When leaving their house one day, the plaintiff fell while walking down the porch step and suffered a serious injury, shattering her shoulder. This resulted in the need for an artificial joint and steel rod. After just 30 minutes of deliberation, the jury found no liability on the defendants.

Paula A. Koczan, another Pittsburgh-based partner, successfully defended an obstetrician/gynecologist in a trial concluding on January 23, 2007. In that case, the plaintiff was diagnosed with breast cancer and alleged the diagnosis was missed by the ob/gyn. The jury deliberated for an hour and a half before rendering a defense verdict.

Rob Kerwin and Jennifer Roman Participate in MBA Conference
Rob Kerwin, co-chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association's Fourth Annual In-House Counsel Conference held on December 12, 2006, participated in a panel presentation on the "Relationship between a company and its auditors". Jennifer Roman presented on the New Electronic Discovery Rules/Developments in Electronic Discovery and addressed the hidden dangers of electronic information.
