Megan Ward Cascio Elected To Partnership
Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell, LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Megan Ward Cascio has become a partner in the firm as of January 1, 2007.

Ms. Cascio, a member of the Corporate and Business Litigation Group, focuses her practice primarily on complex corporate litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery. She handles a wide range of matters including shareholder disputes, derivative actions, breach of fiduciary duty lawsuits and disputes resulting from mergers and acquisitions. She also represents clients in environmental litigation and enforcement actions before administrative agencies and the state and federal courts, and advises clients on environmental compliance and environmental aspects of business transactions, land use and real estate.

A summa cum laude graduate of Washington College, and a magna cum laude graduate of Washington & Lee University School of Law, Ms. Cascio was the Articles Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review. She began her legal career at Morris Nichols in 1997 as a Summer Associate, and joined the firm as an Associate upon graduation from law school in 1998.

Ms. Cascio represents minor children as a guardian ad litem in the Delaware Family Court through the Office of the Child Advocate. She also has performed a variety of pro bono work through Delaware Volunteer Legal Services.

Drew Hissong, Ph.D. Joins Merchant & Gould, Washington DC
Merchant & Gould, an intellectual property law firm, announced that Drew Hissong, Ph.D. has joined its Washington DC office as a partner. At Merchant & Gould, Dr. Hissong will practice intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent prosecution, opinions, interferences and client counseling for biotech and pharmaceutical clients.

Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, Dr. Hissong was a partner at Sughrue Mion in Washington DC in their biotech/pharma group. He has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Dr. Hissong has traveled extensively in Japan and Korea, lecturing to both law firms and corporations on U.S. patent law and practice.

Merchant & Gould Ranked Seventh Nationwide in Trademark Litigation, With 38 Percent Increase in 2006
Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce it has been ranked 7th in the list of top trademark litigators in the United States and second for fastest-growing trademark practice in 2006 by IP Law360.

The report identifies Merchant & Gould as one of the top ten trademark practice groups in a survey of the 300 largest U.S. law firms and 28 intellectual property boutiques as measured between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006.

The firm also ranked second in the category of fastest growing trademark practice groups as measured by new cases taken in 2006. The growth was listed at 38 percent, only 1 percent below the fasting-growing firm.

Kyle H. Flindt Joins Merchant & Gould's Seattle Office
Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould announced that Kyle H. Flindt has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Seattle office.

"Kyle's exposure to a wide variety of electrical technologies is further complemented by his proven expertise in intellectual property law," said Brett Hertzberg, managing partner of Merchant & Gould's Seattle office. "His prior experience as an electrical engineer makes him an invaluable asset to our firm and our clients."

Mr. Flindt counsels domestic and international clients on patent strategy, including how to acquire, defend, and enforce their patent rights. His practice also includes preparation and prosecution of patents with emphasis on computer hardware, software, and electro-mechanical devices. He regularly assists with trademark prosecution, software copyright registration, and related intellectual property litigation.

Mr. Flindt obtained his J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Brigham Young University.

Merchant & Gould Promotes Johnson and Ehard in Minneapolis
Intellectual property law firm Merchant & Gould is pleased to announce that it has promoted Thomas Johnson and Andrew Ehard of the Minneapolis office as partners at the firm.

Thomas Johnson's practice emphasizes patent and trademark litigation. He has more than a decade of litigation experience and has represented clients with an emphasis on the mechanical arts. Tom has tried numerous cases in front of both judges and juries and has argued before the Appellate Courts in Minnesota . He counsels clients on tactics and trial issues with an eye toward effective business solutions.

Andrew Ehard practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on trademark law. He represents and counsels significant brand holders in the management of their global trademark portfolios and the selection, clearance and registration of new brands. Andrew also represents clients involved in domestic and foreign trademark oppositions and cancellation proceedings. Prior to joining Merchant & Gould, Andrew served as a member of the senior management team and Director of Intellectual Property Services with the trademark research and brand protection company, NameProtect Inc. and also previously practiced as a Trademark Examining Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Locke Reynolds Partner Named to the Indianapolis Bar Association's Board of Managers
Melanie D. Margolin was named an at Large Member to the Indianapolis Bar Association's (IBA) Board of Managers. She has also served on the IBA's Justice Center Task Force and was a member of the inaugural Bar Leader Series class.

Ms. Margolin is a partner of Locke Reynolds and was recently named Hiring Partner of the Firm. She concentrates her practice in business litigation and general business counseling, and also has a strong background in tort litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and appellate practice.
