DLA Piper assists Delancey in Dickins and Jones financing
DLA Piper has assisted existing client Delancey in the successful financing of the Dickins and Jones flagship store on Regent Street.

The financing arrangements agreed with Deutsche Postbank AG have resulted in a commitment to lend in excess of £100 million for the redevelopment phase.

The financing deal was a critical step in allowing the former Dickins and Jones site to be divided into four smaller retail units. Leases have already been agreed with four major retailers.

Paul Jayson, a real estate partner commented: "This has been a challenging and complicated deal relating to a high profile asset. We hope to continue to be involved in this exciting redevelopment project."

Finance and projects partner, Mark Phillips and solicitor, Lorraine Clover were also involved in this deal.

Miller Canfield Re-Elects Managing Directors
The law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. has re-elected Richard A. Gaffin and Jerome R. Watson to serve two-year terms as managing directors, effective January 1, 2007. They are part of a five-person administration that works with the CEO and deputy CEO to oversee all of the firm’s 16 offices.

Richard A. Gaffin is a principal in the Grand Rapids office where he also serves as resident director. He is group leader of the Intellectual Property Group and deputy chair of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice Group. His practice encompasses intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright litigation, litigation involving the enforcement of non-competition agreements, and litigation arising out of the sale of computer hardware and software. In addition, he advises companies in the licensing of technology and the protection of intellectual property developments.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association, Grand Rapids Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association, and International Trademark Association. He serves as vice-president of the Kentwood Economic Development Corporation, and is active in numerous other community activities and organizations.

He received his law degree from the American University and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University.

He resides in Kentwood, Michigan.

Jerome R. Watson is a principal in the Detroit office and a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Law Group. He has worked as a litigator for over 20 years. His practice primarily consists of handling employment defense cases and complex litigation matters. He has served as lead counsel on various class action cases, and is a frequent speaker on employment law topics including workplace violence, defending class actions and multiple plaintiff litigations, disciplining and terminating employees, and wrongful discharge law.

He is a member of various legal organizations including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the National Bar Association, the National Employment Law Conference, the Detroit Bar Association and the Wolverine Bar Association.

Watson received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and was awarded his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

47 Jones Walker Attorneys Listed Among 2007 Louisiana Super Lawyers, One In Top 10, Four In Top 50, Two In Top 25 Women
The law firm of Jones, Walker, Waechter, Poitevent, Carrère & Denègre, L.L.P. is pleased to announce that forty-seven attorneys were listed among Louisiana Super Lawyers. Additionally, R.
