Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP and Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. Announce Joint Diversity Fellowship Program
Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP and its client Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. are pleased to announce a new joint summer fellowship program for first-year law students, entitled the "1L Diversity Fellowship + In-House Experience."

Thelen has a long-standing commitment to diversity and is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and promoting attorneys who reflect the diversity of our society. The firm sponsored the groundbreaking Study of Minority Student Attitudes and has won numerous diversity-related honors, including the California Minority Counsel Program's Drucilla Stender Ramey Majority-Owned Law Firm Award.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan is California's largest not-for-profit health maintenance organization and, in 2006, received corporate diversity awards from both the California Minority Counsel Program and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. Kaiser Foundation Health Plan is committed to promoting diversity in the legal profession, and is proud to include this program among its diversity initiatives.

About the Fellowship

The 1L Diversity Fellowship + In-House Experience program consists of two phases.

First, beginning May 21, 2007, the selected Fellow will spend eight weeks in Thelen's San Francisco office participating in the firm's Summer Associate program. At Thelen, the Fellow will gain valuable experience and exposure participating in firm training programs, work assignments, and a pro bono clinic, in addition to other opportunities for observation and community involvement.

Next, the Fellow will be provided with a rare 1L glimpse into the area of corporate law from the in-house counsel perspective, as the Fellow spends the final three weeks of the summer working in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc.'s National Legal Department in Oakland, California.

Additionally, the Fellow will receive a $5,000 scholarship toward his or her second-year studies, as well as continued mentoring throughout the remainder of law school.

Selection Criteria

All first-year students at ABA-accredited California law schools are encouraged to apply. The Fellow will be selected based on a demonstrable commitment to diversity, academic excellence, and personal or professional achievement.

Application Procedure

All applications are due no later than February 16, 2007. Interested students should submit the following:

* A resume
* Academic transcripts for undergraduate, graduate, and law schools

Toll Sullivan Attorneys Join Parker McCay—Combination Reinforces Parker McCay’s Position in South Jersey
Today it was announced that all of the lawyers from Cherry Hill-based law firm Toll, Sullivan and Luthman have joined regional law firm Parker McCay. The combination reinforces Parker McCay’s position as one of the largest law firms headquartered in South Jersey, and strengthens services provided in four of the firm’s practice areas – real estate, healthcare, local government and banking.

Founded in 1915, Parker McCay has experienced steady and consistent growth over the last decade. “With the addition of the Toll, Sullivan and Luthman attorneys, the firm will now employ in excess of 75 attorneys,” said Philip A. Norcross, Parker McCay’s managing shareholder and chief executive officer. “The addition of these attorneys is consistent with Parker McCay’s growth in the past,” says Norcross. “We’re taking advantage of an opportunity to add great attorneys and staff in key practice areas in order to continually enhance our services and to better meet the needs of our clients.”

Joining Parker McCay from Toll, Sullivan and Luthman are Edward Sullivan and David A. Luthman, who join the firm as counsel. Amy L. Shellenberger joins as an associate. The attorneys will reside in Parker McCay’s Marlton office.

“We are ecstatic that the Toll, Sullivan attorneys are joining us,” said Norcross. “Ed Sullivan is one of the most highly regarded attorneys in the healthcare industry today, and has served as general counsel for the Kennedy Health System for decades. Dave Luthman adds depth to our governmental practice with nearly 25 years experience in that area.”

Mr. Sullivan focuses his practice on healthcare law, as well as real estate with a concentration in mortgage banking. A resident of Cinnaminson, N.J., he received his law degree from Georgetown University and his bachelor's degree from Saint Joseph's University.

Mr. Luthman's primary practice areas include local government and real estate with a concentration in mortgage banking. He received his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law - Camden, and his bachelor's degree from Rutgers - New Brunswick. Mr. Luthman is a resident of Pennsauken, N.J.

Ms. Shellenberger concentrates her practice in real estate, with a focus on mortgage banking. She earned her law degree from Widener University School of Law, and received her bachelor’s degree from Rowan University. She is a resident of Mount Laurel, N.J.
