Senniger Powers' Managing Partner Ed Hejlek Comments on Patent Issue in St. Louis Business Journal
The St. Louis Business Journal recently interviewed Senniger Powers' Managing Partner Ed Hejlek regarding the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the eBay v. MercExchange case, the future of automatic injunctions and the implications for St. Louis businesses.

In the March 2, 2007, article titled "High Court Ruling Restricts Power of 'Patent Trolls' ", Hejlek commented on the Supreme Court ruling that effectively removed the threat of automatic injunctions against companies found to be infringing on patents. "There will still be plenty of injunctions; they just won't be automatic," Hejlek said. "Before (the Supreme Court ruling), a permanent injunction was almost automatic upon a finding of infringement. The decision reduces the leverage of the patent owner."

Hejlek also commented on the potential for the ruling to curb abuse by patent trolls, noting that it could lower the amount of an ultimate settlement.
