Loeb & Loeb's IP and Entertainment Litigation Group Preserves Copyright Ownership Claims for Sony ATV
On behalf of our client, Sony ATV, Loeb & Loeb LLP successfully preserved their ownership rights to the vast majority of songs written by country legend Roger Miller. The Miller Estate challenged Sony's ownership and The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court decision. In addition, the Loeb team overturned and had remanded to the District Court, a finding that Sony had lost the rights to those songs written by Miller in 1964. The Loeb team argued that a judicial admission could not be formed from the misstatement of law by former Sony counsel on which the lower court decision was based.
