TWO SHEEHAN PHINNEY ATTORNEYS NAMED BEST IN AMERICA IN ENVIRONMENTAL, ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES LAW FOR 2007
Two attorneys from the law firm Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green have been recognized by their peers as two of the Best Lawyers in America in Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law for 2007. Every year, American Lawyers Media surveys thousands of attorneys throughout the nation and publishes their findings in Corporate Council Magazine’s “Best Lawyers in America Guide.“

Bob Cheney has been a member of Sheehan Phinney Bass + Green since 1992. Prior to that, Bob served from 1981 to 1992 in the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office. During his tenure Bob worked in the Attorney General’s Environmental Bureau and was chief of the Environmental Bureau from 1984-1988. Since joining the firm, Bob’s practice has focused on regulatory matters, primarily relating to environmental, regulation and compliance

John Peltonen has practiced law since 1967. During this time, his practice has included representation of business and municipal clients on a wide range of commercial and personal injury litigation and, over the past 20 years, of environmental matters. His practice is focused on environmental compliance, permitting, the development of remedial alternatives, the redevelopment of contaminated properties and litigation. In addition, John has developed a mediation practice covering all aspects of environmental, commercial and personal injury litigation.

The 2007 publication is the 13th edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Since its inception more than 20 years ago, Best Lawyers has become universally regarded as the definite guide to legal excellence in the United States. Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which 16,000 leading attorneys throughout the country cast more than a half million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties, and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.
