Fross Zelnick ranked top firm for trademark work in intellectual property guide
Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C., a leading firm in the field of trademark, copyright, design and unfair competition law, announced today that it was recognized as the only law firm in the top tier for non-contentious and transactional trademark work in the 2006-2007 edition of Legal 500 US, an industry reference guide that ranks top firms within specific legal practice areas. The firm was also ranked in the second tier for U.S. trademark litigation and the third tier for U.S. copyright work.

Many of the firm's lawyers received individual recognition for their work, including copyright specialists Craig Mende and David Ehrlich, as well as Roger Zissu, who last year led the firm's successful representation of Stephen Slesinger, Inc. in its action against The Disney Company over licensing rights to the Winnie-the-Pooh character. The "breadth of experience" among the firm's copyright specialists was also praised by one unnamed survey respondent who further noted that, "whatever the issue, someone at the firm will have the relevant experience to deal with it."

In the non-contentious/transactional trademark category, the firm was recognized as "the top choice for all IP matters" by clients. Ron Lehrman, Janet Hoffman, Peter Silverman, Nadine Jacobson, Lydia Temesgien Gobena, and Stephen Bigger were mentioned for their expertise in the international area. On the domestic side, David Ehrlich was listed as a "widely experienced prosecutor and counselor." Mark Engelmann was called a "star counselor."

In the trademark litigation and dispute resolution category, Marie Driscoll, Barbara Solomon and Craig Mende were mentioned for their U.S. expertise, while Ron Lehrman, Peter Silverman and Stephen Bigger were identified as top international litigation strategists.

"While professional recognition for the exceptional work we do is always an occasion for celebration, it is especially gratifying for our services to be so favorably acknowledged by a 'jury' of our clients and peers and for so many of our partners to be singled out," said Ron Lehrman, a founding partner of the firm.

Legal 500 US is a professional reference guide that provides tables of recommendations and independent commentary on the leading domestic law firms for specific legal categories. Published by Legalease, Legal 500 US is part of a series of jurisdictional guides that review the strengths of law firms in more than 90 countries. Firm placements within the tables are determined in part by a survey of law firm clients and attorneys.
