International Finance Lawyer Gregory Harrington Joins Arnold & Porter
Washington, D.C., April 5, 2007 – Arnold & Porter LLP announced that Gregory Harrington has joined the firm as a partner. Mr. Harrington has extensive experience in international financial transactions in Latin America, particularly in the area of debt and equity capital markets, including sovereign debt and project finance. He currently resides in São Paulo, Brazil, but will be returning to the United States by late spring. He is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.

“Greg’s expertise will strengthen Arnold & Porter’s international finance practice,” said firm Chair Thomas Milch. “His background provides a strong fit with our corporate and financial services groups, and he will provide key support for our New York and London offices. Our transactional practice in Latin America is expanding, and Greg’s on-the-ground experience there, especially in Brazil, will be incredibly valuable in servicing clients.”

Mr. Harrington has significant experience in private practice, including work in New York, Madrid and São Paulo. He has built a substantial practice involving finance-related transactions, including equity and debt issues, exchange offers and consent solicitations, bank loans, debt renegotiation and private placements.

Mr. Harrington has represented underwriters and issuers on numerous equity and debt transactions, including representing CESP (Companhia Energética de São Paulo) in 2006 in connection with the public offering of its common and preferred shares. Valued at over $1.5 billion, this was the largest equity offering by a Brazilian issuer in the past four years and is believed to be the largest ever by a Brazilian issuer under Rule 144A. The transaction was selected by LatinFinance magazine as Deal of the Year for Best Follow-on Equity, which noted that the deal "stands out for its complexity and tricky timing.” Also in 2006, Mr. Harrington advised Banco do Brasil as issuer of $500 million perpetual non-cumulative junior subordinated securities, the first issue ever by a Brazilian bank of “hybrid” capital securities. This transaction also garnered recognition by LatinFinance as Deal of the Year for Best Financial Institution Bond. Mr. Harrington has a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.A. from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University.

Commenting on his arrival at Arnold & Porter, Mr. Harrington said, “The firm has established one of the premier practices in international finance in Latin America. I look forward to working with this team of lawyers.”

Schnader Client Among Pa.’s Best 50 Women In Business for 2007
Philadelphia, PA: Aerial Fullington Weisman, President and CEO of Fullington Trailways in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, was selected as one of Pennsylvania’s Best Fifty Women in Business for 2007. Ms. Fullington Weisman was nominated by Schnader attorney Judith F. Olson.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as one of the state’s Best Fifty Women in Business for 2007,” said Ms. Fullington Weisman. “I’m proud of the contributions that Fullington Trailways makes to the people and the Commonwealth, and while this award bears my name, I share it with each person who keeps Fullington Trailways running smoothly and has helped to make our company a success.”

Ms. Fullington Weisman, who joined the company in 2003, is a co-owner and the President and CEO of Fullington Trailways, located in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Fullington Trailways has been in Ms. Fullington Weisman’s family for 99 years and has long-served the surrounding community in a variety of ways – from being a source of jobs, to providing a very important service to a more rural area of the Commonwealth.

Ms. Fullington Weisman’s formal educational training and chosen career was as a cardiac care nurse and in cardiac medical sales – she graduated in the early 1970’s from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Nursing. However, when her family’s business hit very difficult times, she voluntarily left her chosen field and moved herself and her family to Clearfield to take over the reins. When she took control, the company was on the verge of immediate bankruptcy and there was a distinct possibility that the business would not survive, leaving many people unemployed in a region where employment opportunities are limited, and leaving the community without a vital service. But, under Ms. Fullington Weisman’s leadership, the company not only survived, but began to thrive. From renegotiating the terms of the company’s loans with various creditors and lenders, to maintaining key contracts with customers and encouraging key employees to stay, Ms. Fullington Weisman has modernized and energized Fullington Trailways.

On a day-to-day basis, Ms. Fullington Weisman is responsible for the overall management of the company which has approximately 450 people employed at company headquarters and at branch operations in three counties. She negotiates and executes all of the company’s contracts, and supervises the various services the company provides. Additionally, she reviews the financials, maintains the relationships with the company’s creditors, lenders, vendors and customers, and handles human resources issues.

In addition to running Fullington Trailways on a day-to-day basis, Ms. Fullington Weisman serves as a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Insurance Committee, and the Licensing, Trademark and Copyright Committee for Trailways, the national franchisor organization to which her company belongs. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors, the Bylaws Committee, the Nominating Committee, and the Legislative Committee for the Pennsylvania Bus Association, a state-wide industry group that advocates on behalf of the business and governmental interests of transportation companies like Fullington Trailways.

Judith F. Olson, the Schnader attorney who nominated Ms. Weisman, is resident in the Firm’s Pittsburgh office. She concentrates her practice on commercial litigation, emphasizing directors' and officers' liability, securities litigation, antitrust litigation, RICO and fraud claims, shareholders derivative actions and class action litigation. She represents businesses and officers and directors of both private and public companies in federal securities actions, antitrust actions, RICO claims, actions involving leveraged buyouts, contract disputes and other commercial matters. Additionally, she counsels clients with corporate governance issues regarding fiduciary duties of officers and directors and governance matters that impact a corporation, its board or its management.
