Henry Mitchell Reelected to the North Carolina Chamber (formerly NCCBI) Board of Directors

He formerly served as Deputy General Counsel of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. His recognition includes listing in Business North Carolina's Legal Elite and Best Lawyers in America.

Salans acts for RBI Holding on sale of 25% to Morgan Stanley Fund
Salans has acted for RBI Holding, a leading residential developer in St. Petersburg, Russia in its sale of approximately 25% to Morgan Stanley Real Estate's Special Situations Fund III. This transaction is Morgan Stanley Real Estate's first investment in St Petersburg.

Salans' team included Moscow partner Tim Stubbs, London partner Peter Hughes, St. Petersburg partner Artem Zhavoronkov and St. Petersburg associate Irina Tio.

Founded in 1993, RBI has completed 39 residential construction projects in St. Petersburg, leading the market in luxury and middle-class residential property. Over the past decade RBI has experienced tremendous growth in both scale and number of specific market segments.

In April 2006 Salans also acted for RBI Holdings in its negotiation and signing of a real estate development JV with RREEF, the real estate arm of Deutsche Bank. The JV continues to develop its projects according to plan.

QUARLES & BRADY LLP PARTNER MICHAEL GONRING SELECTED
The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Michael J. Gonring, a partner with the Firm, has been selected as a 2007 Leader in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal. He is one of 20 attorneys from throughout Wisconsin to be recognized. Gonring was honored at the Leaders in the Law awards dinner in late March.

According to the Wisconsin Law Journal, this award recognizes Wisconsin’s legal professionals for outstanding contributions to the practice of law, including leadership in advancing legal services to the poor, important contributions to Wisconsin’s legal community and important contributions to the community at large.

Gonring serves as the Firm’s pro bono coordinator and regularly provides legal services to pro bono clients. He is a product liability litigator and has conducted trials in 14 states and represented clients in 39 states.

Gonring is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and is a member of many professional organizations, including the State Bar of Wisconsin, State Bar of Arizona and American Bar Association. He has been a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and was on the board of directors for Legal Action of Wisconsin. He is a recipient of the Martindale-Hubbell AV® Peer Review Rating. The AV Peer Review Rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence and is typically given to attorneys who have practiced law for many years, while recognizing the highest levels of skill and integrity.

Gonring earned his bachelor’s and law degree from Marquette University. He is a resident of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin.

K&L Gates New York Deepens Transportation and Government Contracts Capabilities with Addition of New Partner
Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis LLP (K&L Gates) welcomes Robert Bergen to its transportation and government contracts practices. Bergen comes to the firm from Holland & Knight LLP.

Bergen focuses his practice on the public transportation and government contracting sectors, where he represents private entities in infrastructure project development, finance, contracting, regulatory and procurement matters, and matters that relate to business transactions between government and the private sector. Bergen has particular experience in railroad and public transit transportation issues. He has routinely represented clients before state and federal regulatory authorities.

Prior to entering private practice, Bergen was general counsel to Metro North Railroad and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

HASKELL SLAUGHTER LAWYERS FEATURED AT SOUTHEASTERN CORPORATE LAW INSTITUTE
F. Lane Finch, Jr. and Robert M. Lichenstein, Jr., attorneys with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker, LLC, will be among the featured speakers at the 44th Annual Southeastern Corporate Law Institute, to be held April 19 – 21 at the Marriott Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. Mr. Finch’s topic will be “D&O Insurance Coverage: Lessons from HealthSouth, Enron & Worldcom”, while Mr. Lichenstein will be featured on a panel entitled “New Electronic Discovery Rules – How Do Companies Comply”.
