Rania Nasreddine Chosen as One of Tulsa’s Twenty New Leaders
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will hold a charity gala honoring “Twenty of Tulsa’s New Leaders” at the Doubletree Warren Place. Rania A. Nasreddine, an associate of the firm since 2005, was selected as a member of this group of young Tulsa businessmen and women. The group will be recognized for:

- exemplifying leadership qualities by being active in volunteer roles or excelling in metro Tulsa’s business community;
- being the most prominent, influential, and successful businessmen and women in the city; and,
- their fund-raising commitment to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

As a Presidential sponsor of the event, GableGotwals will proudly host a table along with over 500 other corporate sponsors and individuals. Last year’s event had over 750 guests and raised over $130,000 for CF research. More than 90 cents of every dollar of revenue raised goes back into CF research.

Ms. Nasreddine received her undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science from Emory University. While at Emory, she became the ADA National Debate Champion and was awarded Emory’s Award of Excellence. She earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma where she obtained Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers while serving as an editor of the Oklahoma Law Review.

Ms. Nasreddine’s areas of practice are Litigation and Oil and Gas Law.

Ms. Nasreddine is active in several civic organizations and most recently has provided fundraising and other support for several local and national organizations including the Little Light House, Urban Debate League, and the United Way.

CLL is named as a leading copyright firm.
The Legal 500 United States (John Prichard 2007) said, in its volume on Intellectual Property lawyers, that CLL "is widely regarded as 'one of the leading copyright practices in the market.' " It specifically mentioned Richard Dannay ("stands at the forefront of leading US copyright lawyers"), William Borchard ("Highly regarded by his peers'), Christopher Jensen ("provides intellectual property expertise"), Robert Clarida ("a 'top-notch' reputation) and Morton Goldberg ('One of the deans of the copyright bar'). The views expressed represent the opinions of the editors based on the combined opinions of the many lawyers interviewed, among other things.

CLL is a top U.S. trademark filer
The Trademark Insider (NameProtect 2007) ranked CLL as 7th out of the top 200 law firms as determined by the number of USPTO applications submitted in calendar year 2006 in which the firm was listed as the correspondent.

President's Pro Bono Service Award.
Costello, Cooney & Fearon, PLLC was recently selected as a winner of the President's Pro Bono Service Award for small and midsize law firms by the New York State Bar Association. The firm will be recognized at an awards event on April 30th at the State Bar Center in Albany, NY.

Bissoon, Cottington and Prorok Join Cohen & Grigsby
"Cohen & Grigsby announced today that it has added significant strength and capability to its Labor & Employment Practice Group by adding three partners to the Firm, all resident in its Pittsburgh offices. The three partners join Cohen & Grigsby from the Pittsburgh office of Reed Smith.

* Cathy Bissoon focuses her practice on employment discrimination and harassment litigation and has first-chair jury trial experience along with extensive pretrial litigation experience. She represents unionized and non-unionized employers in a wide range of employment-related lawsuits in federal and state courts around the country and before local, state and federal agencies. She also dedicates a smaller portion of her practice to representing employers in traditional labor matters such as arbitrations and collective bargaining. A frequent speaker, trainer and counselor regarding employment law compliance, Bissoon has been named one of the “Best Lawyers in America,” one of Pennsylvania’s “Super Lawyers,” and is one of only a few Pennsylvania employment lawyers to be ranked by Chambers USA. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Bissoon was a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Group at Reed Smith in Pittsburgh. She also served as the firm’s Director of Diversity and was the former firm-wide head of Reed Smith’s Employment Group. Bissoon has a B.A. in political science, summa cum laude, from Alfred University and a J.D. from Harvard University. A native of New York, N.Y., Bissoon, her husband and two children live in Mt. * Robert B. Cottington is an experienced labor and employment lawyer, representing employers in collective bargaining, labor arbitration, and litigation involving a wide array of employment claims, including discrimination, harassment, FMLA, wrongful termination, non-competes and breach of contract. He devotes a substantial portion of his practice to counseling management clients and defending them in cases involving wage and hour claims. He has successfully defended retail and healthcare clients in nationwide and regional wage and hour class action lawsuits. Cottington has also been named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” and one of Pennsylvania’s “Super Lawyers.” Before joining Cohen & Grigsby, Cottington was a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Group at Reed Smith in Pittsburgh. Cottington earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Bucknell University and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University. He and his family reside in Cranberry Township, PA.

* Robert F. Prorok represents employers in the full range of employment and labor law matters, including litigation in federal and state court and adjudication before various state and federal agencies. A former adjunct professor at St. Francis University, Prorok regularly presents continuing legal education seminars for both the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the National Business Institute. He has also been appointed as a qualified mediator, early neutral evaluator and arbitrator for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania’s Alterative Dispute Resolution Program. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Prorok was a partner in the Labor & Employment Law Group at Reed Smith in Pittsburgh. Prorok received his undergraduate degree in rhetoric and political science from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He and his family currently reside in Upper St. Clair, PA.

SCOTT CARROLL ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD OF LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY
Scott Carroll, President of the Southern Ohio Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), has been elected to the National Board of Trustees Executive Committee of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

“Scott has been a dynamic leader for our chapter and has been active for many years on the national stage also,” said Jay Van Winkle, National Director, Donor Development for LLS and the former executive director for the Southern Ohio Chapter. “He will be a great contributor in his new national role.”

Mr. Carroll is a partner with the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP, specializing in labor and employment law. He has been involved with the Southern Ohio Chapter of the LLS since 1996 and has served on the board since 2002. Mr. Carroll has also served on the LLS National Board of Representatives and was a Co-Chair of the LLS Strategic Plan national task force.

“This is a great honor,” said Mr. Carroll. “We’re making great progress every day in our mission to defeat blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.”

Mr. Carroll is active with the Society’s Team in Training (TNT) program, completing the 2004 Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, and participating in the Walt Disney World Triathlon in 2006. TNT is the world’s largest endurance sports training program, and provides participants with personalized coaching and fundraising support to complete full or half marathons, triathlons or century (100 mile) bicycle rides while raising money for LLS.

Mr. Carroll is a 10-year blood cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1996 and was declared cancer-free following nine months of treatment with radiation and chemotherapy.

Mr. Carroll and his wife and daughter live in Mount Lookout.
