The award, issued annually by Trademark Insider magazine, recognizes the outstanding achievements of law firms in the trademark industry. The top law firms are recognized on a national and regional basis. Perkins Coie ranked #17 nationally and #1 in the Seattle market. In addition, Trademark & Copyright practice co-chair Heidi Sachs, was named among the top 50 trademark attorneys in the nation.

Firm Wins Court of Appeals Reversal
MGB attorneys were successful in obtaining a reversal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C., for Cabela’s against its arch-rival, Bass Pro. Cabela’s and Bass Pro are the leading retailers of outdoor clothing and equipment. The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri had found Cabela’s in civil contempt of a consent judgment resulting from a previous patent infringement suit brought by Bass Pro against Cabela’s. In the appeal decision dated April 6, 2007, the Federal Circuit held that Cabela’s redesigned device could not reasonably be found to infringe Bass Pro’s patent, a necessary prerequisite for finding contempt of a patent judgment. The Federal Circuit vacated the lower court’s contempt order. The MGB attorneys were Thomas I. Ross and Matthew C. Nielsen. [Fed. Cir. Appeal No. 2006-1276]
