Wietrzychowski Re-elected to County Chamber of Commerce
Schnader attorney Michael J. Wietrzychowski was re-elected recently to serve another three-year term as a member of the Burlington County Chamber of Commerce's (BCCOC) Board of Directors. The BCCOC represents the interests of its more than 400 member businesses--which includes corporations, non-profit organizations and government entities--and works to improve the economic viability of Burlington County and the business potential of the organization's members. Mr. Wietrzychowski also serves as the liaison between the Board and the Chamber's Employment Practices Committee.

Resident in both the Philadelphia and Cherry Hill offices, Mr. Wietrzychowski serves as vice chair of the Firm's Labor and Employment Practices Group, and has extensive national experience with all types of labor and employment matters.

Hodgson Russ partner Anita Coles Costello elected president of Hallwalls board of directors
Anita Coles Costello, a partner in Hodgson Russ LLP’s Employee Benefits Practice Group, has been named president of the board of directors of Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center. In 2003, she joined the board and became chair of the Audit & Finance Committee and most recently was the board’s vice president.

Ms. Costello concentrates her practice in employee benefits, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, ERISA, tax, executive compensation, and stock and equity-based compensation programs. In addition to a J.D. from University at Buffalo Law School, State University of New York, Ms. Costello holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in art history from Bryn Mawr College.

Hallwalls’ mission is twofold: to serve artists by supporting the creation and presentation of new work in the visual, media, performing, and literary arts, and to serve the public by making these works available. The art center recently relocated to the restored former church at the corner of Delaware and Tupper.

Kelley Drye Announces Election of New Special Indian Counsel
Mr. Mahajan has been appointed Special Indian Council to the Firm. Mr. Mahajan focuses on corporate and commercial laws of India with emphasis on cross-border transactions. He advises on M&A and regulatory issues, company law issues, securities law transactions, private equity transactions and telecommunications and IT regulations. He has negotiated and advised on multi-jurisdictional joint-venture and shareholder agreements, technology transfer agreements, financing documents, investment agreements, public tender offers and private placement transactions.

Mr. Mahajan has been resident in the Firm's affiliate office in Mumbai, India, since 2005, and will continue to practice there supporting the Firm's New York-based India Practice Group. He received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Bachelor of Legal Sciences degrees from the University of Pune, India. He is admitted as an Advocate in India.

Michael R. Turco named Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America
Butzel Long attorney and shareholder Michael R. Turco has been named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.

The Litigation Counsel of America is an honorary trial lawyer society that represents less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers. Membership is by invitation only. Litigation Counsel of America’s mission is to recognize experienced, highly qualified lawyers, to promote superior advocacy and ethical standards in the practice of law, and to promote community involvement.

Mr. Turco gained membership by litigating significant commercial, business, employment, real property, and construction disputes. He has tried several complete jury and non-jury trials in state and federal court and represented clients in numerous arbitration disputes, including a recent commercial arbitration in which he obtained over $13 Million for a firm client. Mr. Turco also serves as a barrister in the American Inn of Court and is a volunteer for Habitat For Humanity.

Mr. Turco is a graduate of University of Detroit School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1993) and Michigan State University (B.A., cum laude, 1989).

Bullivant hosts international lawyers at Multilaw conference
Bullivant Houser Bailey PC, a leading West Coast law firm, hosted 47 attorneys representing 21 countries for the Multilaw Joint Americas/Asia Pacific Regional Conference earlier this month. Much of the conference content was focused on sustainability practices, the efficient and cost-effective use of resources, and how sustainability business practices will influence lawyers and their clients.

“Sustainability applies to all businesses around the world. Lawyers need to be aware of the increasing impact the it will have on their clients’ business strategies and practices,” said Kimball Ferris, Shareholder and member of Bullivant’s Board of Directors. “At the conference, we were fortunate to have tremendous speakers, including CEOs of Pacific Northwest companies from the apparel, dry cleaning, real estate development, and banking industries, discuss the business impact of sustainability. The sessions helped to educate those unfamiliar with the concept of sustainability and also provided more substantive knowledge for those already experienced with the concept.”

Conference speakers included Chris Van Dyke, President and CEO, nau, Inc.; Kevin Brown, Director of Global Brand Protection, NIKE; David Williams, CEO, ShoreBank Pacific; Bill Bridgman, CEO and Founder, Dry Cleaning Station; and Dennis Wilde, Chief Environmental Officer, Gerding Edlen.

The conference also featured special guest and keynote speaker Allen Alley, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor Kulongoski. Mr. Alley is responsible for overseeing the policy areas of economic development, technology, transportation, energy, workforce training, rural policy, housing and minority, women and emerging small businesses. Alley co-founded Pixelworks where he still serves as Chairman of the Board.

A special musical performance was provided by Katie Harman, Miss America 2002. Harman performed from her semi-classical "Soul of Love" album.

Boca Raton City Councilman Bill Hager and Big Time Restaurants Group Owners Todd Herbst and Bill Watson to Receive Stellar Performer Awards
Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP (“BDB”) will be presenting its annual Stellar Performers Awards on Friday, April 27, 2007. The event will take place at the Delray Beach Marriot in Delray Beach, Florida. Mr. Hager has been selected for his contributions to Boca Raton, as he has exercised a keen interest and oversight of the City’s financial position including its pension programs and annual budget. He is a strong advocate of “best practices” throughout Boca Raton’s City operations and has been a demanding inquirer of developer’s various proposals to help effectively manage redevelopment. He has built a strong working relationship with the Boca Police, Firefighters, and Paramedics, and has also been focused on increasing educational opportunities for our children from pre-school through advanced studies at our outstanding local universities. An active member in the Boca Raton community, Mr. Hager is well known for his extensive community and public service.

St. Jude Medical, Inc. Convertible Debentures Offering
Davis Polk & Wardwell advised Banc of America Securities LLC as initial purchaser of a Rule 144A offering by St. Jude Medical, Inc. of $1.2 billion aggregate principal amount of its 1.22% convertible senior debentures due 2008. Davis Polk also advised Bank of America, N.A. as counterparty to call spread transactions in connection with the offering.
