Firm Culture:  MPBA has more of an "anti-culture" than a "culture." As to diversity, women are called "babe" routinely to their faces; asians are called "gooks" behind their backs; every ethnic slur imaginable can be heard in the offices. Every partner is a law to him or herself - there are no policies or protocols to restrain abusive or outrageous behavior of any practical effect.
Work & Hours:  Hours are not bad. However, the stress and abuse of associates is tremendous. Associates have left after suffering nervous disorders, breaking down crying, and worse. It is hard to imagine a less hospitable work environment.
Salary & Benefits:  Salary is a little behind the market, but not bad.
The Interview process:  The interview process is deceptive. Essentially there is a small group of partners who want to bring the firm into the twenty-first century, who front the hiring efforts, and gloss over the excesses of the most outrageous and abusive partners in an effort to improve the work environment in the long run. What they are doing is suckering law students and then associates into believing that in the end the firm will get better, and the hellish work environment is worthwhile.
Overall Impression:  Avoid this firm unless it is your only offer. If you are forced to work there for lack of options, keep looking. If you have any doubts, just ask for a list of associates (and partners) who have left the firm in the past eight to ten years. They would all LOVE to talk to you.
