Dear Judged
Consulting Lawyers to Bomb Nations?Tell me this Your Honor: How does one get into a position where they can issue the authority to bomb another nation?  Mitt Romney's much-debate debate answer at last week's event has risen my ambition level . . . MWAHAHAHAHAHH!!!!!!!

Dear MommaLaw,

The first thing you should know is that Mitt Romney is *not* a lawyer and never has been a lawyer—but boy has he employed a bazillion.  He’s a businessman with all the hair, teeth, and mechanical personality of a tin man straight out of presidential hopeful central casting.  (It’s somewhat ironic that the real actor in the race, Fred Thompson, is the least cautious, the most unscripted, and, thanks to an uncanny resemblance to Frankenberry (remember him, Count Chocula’s ol’ pal?) he scares the freakin @$*#! out of 89% of the global population).

But back to bombs-away-presidential-hopefuls.  Romney, apparently, is unfamiliar with the US Constitution (and familiarity is certainly not a disqualifier, especially since the current destroyer-in-chief called the constitution “just a goddamn piece of paper”).  But it looks like you should keep looking for other ways to destroy the world.  I’m sure if Darth Cheney and lil’ Chimpy had their way they’d do away with all governmental checks and balances, but last I checked the president still needs the authority of congress to wage war and he or she can’t go it alone as “the decider.”    But fret not- Mitt Romney is only speaking what he knows, which is the workings of the corporate world.  Lawyers, not laws, make the decisions, and corporations, not citizens, have the final say.

Sigh,

A Melancholy Judge
