Who says lawyers aren’t loyal? The market this week buzzed with news of the former Governor of New York, Mr. George E. Pataki, joining Chadbourne & Parke as a counsel. Coming from Pataki, this was no surprise, for as Governor, he had been quite vocal in support of renewable energy, and Chadbourne & Parke targets that practice area. Rather than sitting on the sidelines, influencing, and networking, he wishes to practice actively on environmental issues, and alternative sources for energy. That’s really admirable, though I expected him to run for President instead. However, the best part of the news is that Pataki’s chief of staff John Cahill will also join the same firm as counsel. Now, that’s something! When Pataki served as partner at Plunkett & Jaffe, guess who else worked as a partner there from 1974 to 1987? When Pataki left the firm, Cahill left too. When Pataki became Governor in 1994, Cahill became his chief of staff. Now, when Pataki rejoins a law firm, Cahill will naturally accompany him . Seems this duo is inseparable!
