This will really interest you.
“Opinio Juris is seeking its first ever intern(s) for this coming summer for a full or part time position (at least 10 hours a week).  We’d expect the position to run from June 1- August 15.  Candidates should have superior web skills accompanied by an interest in international law as well as graduate- or law-school level training in that field.  Unlike many other internships, there’s flexibility in when you would work, not to mention there’s no office to report to, plus, we'd like to think were a pretty easy-going group with whom to spend time.”

The world is distraught with wars, political battles, terrorism, crimes…  But there’s something that we forget in our selfish, money-making fights – Mother Nature.

Global warming is becoming the greatest threat to our lives.  There exist people who still deny the fact, either ignorant or selfish.  The ever-increasing extreme weather conditions prove the point.  No matter how hard people try to deny the fatal consequences of global warming, we can look out of our window and know they are lying.

The projected forecast by Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report:
“North America will experience more severe storms with human and economic loss, and cultural and social disruptions.  It can expect more hurricanes, floods, droughts, heat waves and wildfires.  Coasts will be swamped by rising sea levels.  In the short term, crop yields may increase by 5 percent to 20 percent from a longer growing season, but will plummet if temperatures rise by 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit.”

So, is there anyone left who actually still supports Bush?

Mondays are tough.  We all get to the office and feel like there’s nothing more boring than starting our work.  But there is at least one thing more boring than working…watching cheese age.  And should you desire, you could actually watch the entire process by clicking on the above link.  Bet your job doesn’t sound so mundane after all, huh?

Well, it’s officially spring…and that’s always good news, even if its freezing outside today and we’re all stuck inside.  I tend to rationalize things this way: even if it was nice outside, I’d still be stuck inside working.  In fact, if it were nice outside, I’d be even more bitter about the fact that I was stuck inside working.  So its better that the weather sucks…at least that’s what I keep telling myself.  But hey, even if you can’t look forward to good weather, you can always look forward to Inside Legal Blogs.  Read on for some of this week’s news.

Do you know about the Crying Game?  I had blocked all memories of that movie (and Boy George for that matter) out of my mind.  Unfortunately, it all came rushing back to me when I read about this on How Appealing.  Apparently, after this couple got divorced, the wife had a sex change operation and became a man.  I have to give props to the husband’s lawyer for coming up with the argument that he shouldn’t have to pay his ex-wife-now-a-man alimony because Florida doesn’t recognize same sex marriage and because his wife was legally dead after the sex change operation.  Even if the court rejected the argument, that’s creative thinking at its finest.

Moving on, over at Overlawyered, I read about this stellar do-gooder.  After jumping in front of a moving train to save someone, Mr. Welsey Autrey decided to the natural thing: hire an attorney to help him profit off his newfound fame and reputation (I guess knowing he did the right thing wasn’t enough for him).  Sadly for Mr. Autry, his plan didn’t pan out; he’s now suing his attorney, claiming that the contract he signed is unfair and exploitative.  Now, call me crazy, but in my opinion, I don’t think Mr. Autrey is in the position to accuse anyone of being exploitative.

That’s all for this week; have a great weekend, and let’s hope the weather warms up soon!
